Matt Johnson Earns MAC Player Of The Week Honor For Third Time

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt sophomore Matt Johnson has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this year. He also earned the award in weeks two and four after leading the Falcons to victories over Kent State and Murray State.
Despite a 21-20 loss at Mississippi State, Johnson led the Falcons to a near-upset of the SEC school for its Homecoming game. Johnson was 20-of-34 passing for 224 yards, including a two-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. His score brought the Falcons to within one point after falling behind 14-3 early in the contest.
Bowling Green has earned the MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week five times in the first seven weeks of the season. Along with Johnson's three awards, freshman running back William Houston earned the honor in week one and sophomore running back Travis Greene was honored in week five.
The Falcons are 5-2 on the season and lead the MAC East Division with a 3-0 record. Bowling Green has the week off before hosting rival Toledo in the Battle Of I-75 Oct. 26.
