Falcons Set To Tee Off At The Outerbanks Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team will travel to Norfolk, Va. this week to play in the 4th annual Outerbanks Invitational. Old Dominion University will welcome 17 teams to the Par-72, 6,535 yard Kilmarlic Golf Course, which will take place from Oct. 20-22.
Bowling Green, Delaware, Drake, Drexel, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hartford, Hofstra, Jacksonville, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola, Maryland, Marshall, ODU, Radford, and VCU will all compete in the 54-hole event.
Second year head coach Kevin Farrell has seen his team grow together throughout the first three events in the fall season. Farrell has seen his entire team contribute in one-way or another in the first two months of action.
The Falcons two seniors, Chris Melvin and Josh Bialecki, have both seen positive results on the golf course. Melvin has averaged 73.11 strokes per 18 holes, and placed second overall in the 13th annual John Piper Intercollegiate held at Stone Ridge Golf Club – home of the Falcons. Bialecki, who has played in nine rounds, has averaged a steady 75.78 strokes per-round, including an even-par 72.
The Orange and Brown has seen seven golfers average in the 70's over the fall season, including junior Ryan Triller (74.56), sophomore Holden Pahr (74.83) and freshman Eli Stacey (75.33).
Farrell has also featured freshmen (Jose Narro and Brett Rinker) in each event. The two freshmen have played in nine rounds with Narro averaging 72.44 strokes per-round, while Rinker has averaged 74.56 strokes per-round.
The Falcons will tee-off on Sunday and Monday at 8:30 a.m. on the 1st and 10th tee boxes.
