Falcons In Third Place After Day One

Bowling Green completed the first day of the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate tournament, firing a team score of 302.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio –  The Bowling Green State University men's golf team completed the first day at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate on Sunday (Oct. 6), coming into the clubhouse with a team score of 302.  The Falcons faught through tough windy conditions at the Cabo del Sol Ocean Course in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico.Â
Loyola Marymount, Weber State, Santa Clara, UC-Irvine, CSU-Northridge, Texas State, San Francisco, South Dakota, Seattle and Towson all joined Bowling Green in the field of 11 teams.Â
The Ocean Course is designed by Jack Nicklaus, who won a PGA Tour best, 18 Major Championships. The par 72, 7,091 yard layout features 18 holes, including seven holes with an ocean view (5,6,7,8,16,17,18).Â
The Falcons will be right back in action tomorrow morning for the second round of the three-day event, The same five Falcons' will compete.Â
The Orange and Brown were one of three teams in the first pairings on Sunday morning, and came into the clubhouse only seven shots behind the leader. With their team score of 302, BGSU also trails the second place team by only two shots.
Coach Keven Farrell featured a lineup of Jose Narro, Ryan Triller, Brett Rinker, Josh Bialecki and Chris Melvin, as each battled through the difficult Ocean Course. All five Falcons' can say they won the battle, with everyone shooting in the 70's.Â
All five Falcons' were within four shots of each other, with freshman Jose Narro leading the way with an impressive 2-over 74. Junior Triller was right behind Narro, carding a 3-over 75, followed by Rinker (76), Bialecki (77) and Melvin (78).Â
