Three Falcons Improve Their Scores On Day Two At Cabo

The Falcons sit in fifth place after the second round at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate, firing a 293.
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished the second day at the Cabo del Sol Intercollegiate tournament on Monday (Oct. 7), firing a 293 on the day to place them in fifth overall. Bowling Green has a total score of 595 (302-293), which places them 16 shots behind the current leader and within three shots of second place.
Coach Kevin Farrell's saw his lineup of Josh Bialecki, Chris Melvin, Jose Narro, Brett Rinker and Ryan Triller improve as a team by nine strokes. In fact, three Falcons' improved their scores by at least three strokes on the day.
Narro, who is a freshman from Tamico, Mexico, shot a 1-under 71 on day two. Through 36 holes, Narro has totaled a 1-over 145, placing him in third overall.
Melvin, who is one of two seniors on the team, had the biggest improvement for Bowling Green. Melvin, who shot a 78 (+6) in the first round, came back today with a 1-under 71, bettering his score by seven strokes. Through 36 holes, Melvin has totaled a 149 (78-71).
Rinker, who is the other freshman competing for the Falcons, also improved his score on day two. Rinker fired a 1-over 73 in round 2, improving his score by three strokes after shooting a 76 (+4) in round 1. Through two days, Rinker has totaled a 149 (76-73).
Bialecki and Triller rounded out Farrell's lineup, shooting a 78 and 81 respectively. Through two rounds, Bialecki has totaled a 155 (77-78), while Trilled has carded a 156 (75-81) in a field that featured 11 teams.
The Ocean Course is designed by Jack Nicklaus, who won a PGA Tour best, 18 Major Championships. The par 72, 7,091 yard layout features 18 holes, including seven holes with an ocean view (5,6,7,8,16,17,18).
The Falcons will be right back in action tomorrow morning for the final round of the three-day event, The same five Falcons will compete.
