BooBoo Gates and Tyler Tate recognized for efforts at Miami
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference named its players of the week on Monday morning, with Bowling Green's Jerry "BooBoo" Gates and Tyler Tate taking home honors. It is the first time in 2013 that either player has won player of the week honors.
Senior defensive back BooBoo Gates (Middletown, Ohio) recovered two fumbles, including one that he returned for a touchdown, in a 45-3 win at Miami. The two recovered fumbles were his career high for a single game. In the third quarter, Gates scooped up his second fumble recovery of the game, taking it to the end zone for an 11-yard score. It was the fourth different way that Gates has scored a touchdown in his career (fumble recovery return, interception return, kickoff return, and punt return), the first Falcon in program history to accomplish that feat. Gates also added four tackles in the game.

Sophomore kicker Tyler Tate (Carroll, Ohio) was perfect in seven kicks in a 45-3 win at Miami, tying his career high with six PATs. Tate also added a 29 yard field goal for the Falcons. He is now 10-of-13 on field goals this season.
The honor for Gates marks the first time in 2013 that a Bowling Green defensive player has been honored, despite the Falcons boasting the MAC's top defense. Tate's special teams award is the third time that a BGSU player has been recognized as special teams player of the week. Previously Ryan Burbrink (week one) and Paul Senn (week three) were honored.
Bowling Green takes on Ohio tomorrow night (Nov. 12) in a crucial MAC East showdown. The Falcons (6-3, 4-1 MAC) are looking to keep pace with first place Buffalo, who is 7-2, 5-0 MAC entering their contest tomorrow night at Toledo.
