Falcons, Cornhuskers To Face For First Time In Program History

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University team will hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Lincoln, Neb. to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. EST, 6 p.m. CT kickoff on FS1 on Saturday (Sept. 12) inside Memorial Stadium.

Bowling Green vs. Nebraska

This will mark the first meeting in program history between the Falcons and the Huskers with Nebraska being the 149th unique opponent faced in program history for Bowling Green.
Nebraska is already the second new all-time opponent for Bowling Green, joining week one opponent Tarleton State.
In total, BGSU will have three new three new opponents to the record book this season. The third of the group, and 150th unique opponent in program history, will be Sacramento State on Oct. 10.

On The Road Again

Bowling Green State University hits the road for the first time this season with nearly the same trip in back-to-back weeks with 223 miles separating BGSU's week two and week three destinations.
The Falcons will be looking to capture a win in their road opener for the first time since 2013 when BGSU bested Kent State, 41-22, on Sept. 7.
The last win for the Falcons against a power conference opponent came during the 2023 season, topping Georgia Tech on Sept. 30 in a 38-27 final score.

Five Top Storylines

Jeremiah Scoby entered the season with just one career catch. However, in the opener against Tarleton State, Scoby led the Falcons in receiving with 10 receptions for 102 yards while ranking second in the MAC through the first week of the season.
In his Bowling Green debut, Jay Kastantin threw for 262 yards, becoming the first Falcon in almost a year to the day, being Sept. 6, 2025, to throw for over 250 yards with the last being Drew Pyne against Cincinnati. Kastantin added an 80-percent completion percentage to his stat line as well, ranking second in the MAC for both yardage and completion percentage.
Dorian Pringle registered 16 tackles in the first game of the season, not only leading the team, but accumulating the most tackles by a Falcon in nearly five years. Pringle's tackle total is the most among players in the MAC this season for a single-game with his 16.0 tackles per game leading the MAC as well.
Bowling Green's 366 yards of total offense in the opening week of the season currently rank second in the MAC for yards per game behind only UMass' 397 yards per game. Additionally, BGSU's 262 passing yards per game are tied for the most in the MAC with Miami (OH).
The Falcons didn't allow a sack in the first game of the season, one of just two teams this season in the MAC to not allow a sack this year, joined by Miami (OH).

Getting To Know The Huskers

Nebraska is currently in their fourth season under head coach Matt Rhule after Rhule's return to the college ranks following a three-year stint with the NFL's Carolina Panthers.
The Huskers have won seven games each of the last two seasons, capturing consecutive winning seasons for the first time in a decade.
Nebraska opened the 2026 season against MAC opponent Ohio. Ohio scored first and led by as many as six, 13-7, before the Huskers turned the tides of the game.
The Huskers rushed for four touchdowns from three different players in their first game of the season, including a rushing touchdown by quarterback Anthony Colandrea.

Scoby-Scoby Do

In the season opener against Tarleton State, Jeremiah Scoby hauled in 10 receptions for 102 yards, leading the team in receiving. Scoby marked the first 100-yard receiver for the Falcons against an FCS opponent since Harold Fannin Jr. posted 109 yards against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 9, 2023.
The yardage mark for Scoby also registered 12th in program history for single-game receiving yards by a tight end while posting the first 100-yard receiving game by a Falcon since Jyrin Johnson had 102 yards against Cincinnati on Sept. 6, 2025 against Cincinnati.
Scoby added 10 receptions tied for fifth in program history among tight ends and marked the first double-digit reception game for a Falcon since Fannin racked up 17 against Arkansas State on Dec. 26, 2026, tying the FBS record by a tight end.

Pringle: The Fun Don't Stop

Dorian Pringle didn't waste any time getting back into form for the Falcons, leading the team in tackles against TSU in the season opener with 16, ranking second in the nation.
Pringle's career-high in tackles also marked the first 15+ tackle game by a Falcon since Brock Horne had 15 at Buffalo on Oct. 30, 2021.
The outing marked the return to the field for Pringle after missing majority of the 2025 season due to an injury. Prior to the injury, Pringle had registered a team-leading 27 tackles through three games.

Connecting With Kastantin

In his Bowling Green debut, Jay Kastantin put up impressive numbers in the completion percentage department. Kastantin completed 24 of his 30 passes for an 80-percent mark.
Kastantin targeted eight different players in the game, connecting with five of them for the 24 completions, but none more than Jeremiah Scoby who he hit 10 times on 11 targets.
Kastantin showcased his running ability in the game as well, rushing the ball nine times without a sack over the course of the game.

Standing Strong On Third Down

Against Tarleton State, the Falcons' defense allowed just one third down conversion on 10 attempts by the Texans. The 10-percent mark for third-down defense for BGSU ranks ninth in the nation so far this season and leads the Mid-American Conference.
