TICKETS FOR A DOLLAR (OR LESS)
Tickets for Saturday's game are just one dollar ... season-ticket holders can claim their seats for the MAC Tournament first-round game for just a buck, and all other tickets cost just one thin dollar as well ... additionally, BGSU students will be admitted free with a valid student ID, and Anderson Club season-ticket holders also will be admitted to the game for free ... additional Anderson Club tickets will be $5 apiece ... all tickets can be purchased and/or picked up at the Stroh Center Ticket Office during regular business hours, or on Saturday prior to the game.
SENIORS GET ONE MORE HOME GAME, CHANCE FOR 100 WINS
BGSU's senior class, honored in ceremonies prior to last weekend's win over Ohio, will get one more chance to play on the Stroh Center court ... additionally, that quartet – Simone Eli, Danielle Havel, Allison Papenfuss and Chrissy Steffen – will be looking for the 100th win in their Falcon tenures ... the Falcons are 99-28 since those four players came to BG.
SENIOR PRIDE
The Falcons' seniors are looking to join a relatively exclusive – and very impressive – group ... they are aiming to become the eighth class in school history, and the seventh in a row, to be a part of at least 100 career wins at BGSU ... heading into the KSU game, the Falcons have 99 victories since Simone Eli, Danielle Havel, Allison Papenfuss and Chrissy Steffen arrived on campus in the fall of 2009 (Havel sat out the 2009-10 season as a transfer from DePaul) ... the school record is held by the one-woman class of Lindsey Goldsberry, who ended her career with 114 wins, the most by any player (male or female) in MAC basketball history.
100-WIN CLASSES AT BGSU
Wins // Class of... // Fourth-Year Seniors
114 // 2009 // Lindsey Goldsberry
113 // 2010 // Tara Breske, Laura Bugher, Sarah Clapper
110 // 2011 // Chelsea Albert, Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska, Jen Uhl, Kelly Zuercher *

108 // 2008 // Kate Achter, Whitney Taylor
103 // 2007 // Amber Flynn, Julie Gompers, Liz Honegger, Carin Horne, Ali Mann, Megan Thorburn
100 // 1990 // Angie Bonner, Tecca Thompson
* Maggie Hennegan was a part of that graduating class as well ... Hennegan played two seasons for the Falcons after transferring from Saint Louis University, helping BGSU to 55 wins during that time
FIRST-ROUND GAME A RARITY FOR FALCONS
For the Falcons, a MAC Tournament first-round game is a rarity ... BGSU is participating in the first round of the league tourney for the first time since 2004 ... the tourney format that awarded byes was adopted prior to the 1999-2000 season, and BG played first-round games each year from 2000 to '04 ... that 2004 tourney saw the Falcons win three games, including two on buzzer-beating shots by Lindsay Austin, to advance to the league tourney championship game ... the Falcons then earned byes in eight consecutive years from 2005-12.
THE FALCONS IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
BGSU enters Saturday's game with a record of 42-17 in the MAC Tournament ... the Falcons have won 11 MAC Tournament titles, the most of any conference institution, and BGSU has the highest winning percentage (71.2%) of any MAC team in league tourney games ... BG's conference tournament win total places the Falcons second among MAC teams ... more information regarding BG's MAC Tournament history can be found on pages 35-36 of the PDF version of these notes.
FALCONS IN THE FIRST ROUND // FALCONS AT HOME
• The Falcons have an all-time record of 3-2 in MAC Tournament first-round games ... BGSU is 15-6 in quarterfinal-round games, 13-7 in semifinal contests and 11-2 in championship-game appearances ... should the Falcons defeat KSU Saturday, the subsequent second-round game would be BG's first since the tournament switched to the current format.
• BGSU is a perfect 9-0 in MAC Tournament home games, but Saturday marks the Falcons' first league tourney game at the Stroh Center ... BG's last home game in the MAC Tournament was a 66-54, first-round win over Central Michigan at venerable Anderson Arena in 2004.
FALCONS VS. KENT STATE IN THE MAC TOURNAMENT
BGSU has met Kent State eight times in MAC Tournament action, and the Falcons have a 6-2 record in those games ... BG has won five-straight MAC Tournament games vs. the Golden Flashes since KSU's last win in the 1992 tourney ... all eight prior matches have taken place at neutral sites, with two meetings in the quarterfinal round, three in the semifinals and three in the championship game ... BGSU downed the Flashes in the title game in 1993, 2005 and '06.
BACK TO BACK
It is rare that BGSU faces the same opponent in back-to-back games ... Saturday will mark the fifth time in school history, and the third time since Jennifer Roos arrived at BG, that the Falcons will play back-to-back games against the same team ... in each case, the second game took place in March in the MAC Tournament (the first four in the quarterfinal round, and this season in the first round) ... in 1992, Jaci Clark's Falcons ended the regular season with a 95-83 win at Ohio, then beat the Bobcats, 91-57, three days later at Anderson Arena ... Clark's 1994-95 team dropped an 86-68 game to Western Michigan at Anderson to end the regular season, then lost a 67-64 verdict in Kalamazoo ... head coach Curt Miller's Falcons downed Eastern Michigan, 70-69, at home on "Senior Night" 10 years ago (March 4, 2003) ... but, the Eagles topped the Brown and Orange in Ypsilanti, 66-54, four days later ... three years ago, the Falcons posted a narrow 63-58 win at Miami to end the regular season (March 2, 2010), then topped the RedHawks, 91-58, at Quicken Loans Arena eight days later.
FALCONS REACH 20-WIN MARK, AGAIN
For the 10th consecutive season, BGSU has reached the 20-win plateau, extending both the school and MAC records for such sustained success ... the old conference record of seven-straight 20-win seasons was set by Bob Lindsay's Kent State teams from 1995-96 through 2001-02 ... prior to the current run, the longest streak in BG history was four-straight seasons, by Fran Voll's teams of the late 1980s ...
MOST CONSECUTIVE 20-WIN SEASONS, MAC TEAMS
10 // BOWLING GREEN // 2003-04 to 2012-13 (active streak)
7 // Kent State // 1995-96 to 2001-02
6 // Toledo // 1993-94 to 1998-99
4 // BOWLING GREEN // 1986-87 to 1989-90
4 // Toledo // 1988-89 to 1991-92
4 // Toledo // 2009-10 to 2012-13 (active streak)
BGSU IS AT THE TOP OF THIS 20-WIN LIST, TOO
The Falcons now have won at least 20 games a total of 18 times in school history, the most of any MAC school ... other than BGSU, only Toledo (17) and Kent State (13) have posted 20 or more wins on more than six occasions ... the list follows ...

• Under the MAC Tournament format instituted prior to last season, the top-four seeds receive multiple byes ... the third and fourth seeds, Akron and CMU, each earn a 'double-bye' and are placed into the third round ... seeds one and two, Toledo and Ball State, earn a 'triple-bye' and advance directly to the semifinals ... put another way, UT and BSU will need to win only two MAC Tournament games to capture the title, while the Akron or CMU would need three wins ... any team seeded fifth through 12th will need to reel off five consecutive wins to capture the tourney crown ... seeding is based on conference winning percentage, regardless of division ... the MAC tiebreaker procedure can be found on page 19 of the PDF version of these notes.
QUICK HITS
• The Falcons are coming off a 51-43 win at Kent State Wednesday night (March 6), in the final game of the regular season ... BGSU shook off a slow start to pull away from the Flashes in the second half.
• Senior Chrissy Steffen led the Falcons with 13 points on Wednesday night, while freshman Miriam Justinger had nine points and junior Jill Stein eight.
• BGSU shot just 25.9 percent from the field in the first half, but the Falcons went 13-of-27 (48.1%) from the floor in the second half en route to a 37.0% success rate for the game.
• The Falcons held KSU to just 30.0% shooting in Wednesday night's game ... BGSU's defense has limited the Flashes to just 27.0% shooting and an average of 38.0 points per game in the teams' first two meetings this season ... the Falcons let KSU shoot only 24.0% (12-of-50 from the field) in a 69-33 BG victory at the Stroh Center on Jan. 10, 2013.
• BGSU finished the regular season with a record of 5-3 in MAC road games ... 2012-13 marks the 10th consecutive season in which the Falcons have had a winning record in MAC away games ... BG had gone 6-2 or better on the road in each of nine-straight seasons since a 1-7 conference mark away from home in 2002-03.
• This year's senior class – Steffen, Simone Eli, Danielle Havel and Allison Papenfuss – has helped the Falcons to an overall record of 99-28 and a MAC mark of 52-12 since they arrived at BG ... that is an average of 24.75 overall wins and 13 MAC wins per season.
• The seniors are looking to become the eighth group in school history – and the seventh in a row – to reach the 100-win mark for their careers.
• BGSU held the last three regular-season opponents (Ohio, Buffalo and KSU) to an average of just 46.0 points per game and a 31.1% field-goal percentage ... the Falcons downed UB, 56-43, on Feb. 28 before topping Ohio by a 73-52 count three days later (March 3).
• With the win over UB, the Falcons clinched a winning record in MAC play for the 10th consecutive year, a new school record.
• On the season, BGSU has held the opponent to fewer than 50 points on 12 occasions, tying the school record and setting a 'modern-day' mark ... the original record was set by the 1973-74 team, while the '74-75 club kept 11 opponents under the 50-point plateau ... the 2006-07 BG team held nine opponents to fewer than 50 points, en route to an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen.
• In 31 games at the Stroh Center, the Falcons have allowed the opponent to reach 70 points just twice ... Akron (61 points in a BG win on Feb. 20) is the only MAC foe to surpass the 60-point mark against the Brown and Orange in 16 games in the building ... BG has allowed an average of 53.2 ppg in all games at the Stroh, and just 51.4 ppg in MAC games.
• The following few notes illustrate how successful BGSU has been over the last decade ... the Falcons finished with a record of 11-5 in MAC play ... BG has not had more than five losses in conference action since the 2002-03 campaign.
• In fact, BGSU has 124 wins and just 20 losses in MAC games over the last nine years ... no other conference school has fewer than 53 MAC losses in that time.
• The Falcons' 15-point loss to Miami on Feb. 23 was the team's largest margin of defeat this season ... believe it or not, it also was BGSU's most lopsided loss to a MAC team in over five years, since a 68-47 setback at Ball State on Jan. 26, 2008.
• Miami became the first team to defeat BGSU twice in the same season since Eastern Michigan in the 2004-05 campaign ... the Eagles won both regular-season meetings that year, but the Falcons gained a measure of revenge in the MAC Tournament, earning a 77-57 win in the semifinal round en route to the first of three consecutive conference tourney championships.
• Steffen currently has a total of 1,193 career points as a Falcon, ranking 19th on the school's scoring list ... Steffen's next target is 18th-place Jacki Raterman, who scored 1,213 points at BGSU from 1995-99.
• Steffen is fourth in school history in three-point field goals made, having hit 176 long-distance shots in her career ... Steffen moved past Sara Puthoff on that list in the Ohio game.
• Steffen has played in a total of 124 career games ... she has hit double digits in scoring in 61 of those contests.
• The Falcons have a record of 11-4 at the Stroh Center this year to date ... BG has posted a double-digit home win total in each of the last eight seasons.
• The Falcons have a record of 18-2 when scoring 60 or more points this year ... BGSU is 2-7 when the offense is held under the 60-point plateau, but the Falcons have won the last two such games, vs. Buffalo (Feb. 28) and Kent State (March 6).
• BGSU's MAC opponents averaged just 51.9 points per game this season.
• A total of 11 Falcons – every player who has seen action in more than one game this season – have scored in double figures at least once ... nine of those 11 players have hit double digits more than once ... and, no fewer than 10 different players have led BGSU in scoring in at least one game this season.
A QUICK LOOK AT KENT STATE
Kent State has a record of 3-26 on the season, and the Golden Flashes went 1-15 in MAC action ... KSU is looking to snap an eight-game losing streak, including a 51-43 loss to the Falcons on Wednesday night (March 6) ... Kent State's lone MAC win came on the road, a 57-55 decision at Ohio on Feb. 3 ... the Flashes are 2-12 at home, 1-12 on the road and 0-2 in neutral-site games this year to date ... in MAC play, KSU was 0-8 at the M.A.C. Center and 1-7 away from home ... senior guard Tamzin Barroilhet leads the Flashes in scoring, with 9.8 points per game ... she also paces the team in rebounding (6.5 rpg), assists (2.6 apg) and steals (1.5 spg) ... senior guard Trisha Krewson has 8.0 ppg and has hit a team-leading 33 three-point field goals, while junior guard Ashley Evans has 6.0 ppg along with 2.4 assists per outing ... Krewson is the lone player to have started all 29 games this year, while Barroilhet has made 25 starts ... first-year head coach Danielle O'Banion inherited seven letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's club ... the 2011-12 Golden Flashes went 6-21 overall and 5-11 in MAC play.
THE SERIES
The Falcons lead Kent State, 49-28, in the all-time series between the teams, and BGSU has won the last five meetings and 18 of the last 19 matchups ... in this year's regular-season meetings, the Brown and Orange posted a 69-33 triumph over the Golden Flashes at the Stroh Center (Jan. 10) and a 51-43 victory in Kent on Wednesday night (March 6) ... the Falcons swept last year's two contests, including a 76-57 win at the Stroh, in the first-ever MAC game in the building's history (Jan. 4, 2012) ... nearly two months later, BGSU scored early and often in a 91-48 win in Kent (Feb. 28, 2012), a victory that clinched the outright regular-season title for the Brown and Orange ... the teams split their two matchups two seasons ago, as KSU broke a 13-game BG series win streak with a 44-43 win in Kent (Jan. 15, 2011), and the Falcons answered with an 80-59 victory at Anderson Arena the following month (Feb. 26, 2011) ... the Falcons are 23-10 in home games, 19-16 in road contests and 7-2 in neutral-site meetings with Kent/Kent State ... overall, the Flashes had won 12-straight matchups, and 17-of-18 contests, before BGSU captured the next 13 meetings prior to KSU's win in January of '11 ... Jennifer Roos has a record of 2-0 vs. Kent State as a collegiate head coach.
UP NEXT
The BGSU-Kent State winner will advance to the second round of the MAC Tournament, heading to Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland to take on the winner of the Eastern Michigan-Western Michigan game ... the second-round game will take place on Wednesday (March 13) at the Q ... the winner of that game advances to take on fourth-seeded Central Michigan on Thursday (March 14) in third-round action, with top-seeded Toledo awaiting that winner in Friday's (March 15) semifinals ... should BG continue to advance in the tournament, each of the Falcons' games would begin at noon until Saturday's (March 16) championship contest, which will tip at 1:00 p.m. ... the semifinals and championship will be televised by SportsTime Ohio.
