Orange Defeats White In Spring Game

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Orange team jumped out to a commanding 31-0 halftime lead in the annual Spring Game, winning 34-7 over the White team on Friday night. The game was played at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
Matt Johnson led all passers with 123 yards, throwing for one touchdown on the night. Travis Greene led all rushers, gaining 88 yards in the win.
Senior Jordan Hopgood ran for two touchdowns in the win.
The scoring started just five minutes into the game, when Tyler Tate nailed a 29-yard field goal to put the Orange team ahead 3-0.
The Orange owned the second quarter, outscoring the White squad 28-0. The backbreaker for the White came on a fourth down play early in the second quarter, when Johnson threw a ball up for grabs. On the receiving end, Shaun Joplin came down with the jumpball for a 29-yard touchdown.
Hopgood would rush for the next two scores to increase the Orange team's lead to 24-0. Jared Cohen would scoop up a bad snap on a fourth-down punt, scoring a touchdown on a six-yard fumble recovery.
The second half featured a running clock, with the White outscoring the Orange 7-3.
The White scored their only touchdown, when Diontre Delk caught a six yard pass from Matt Schilz.
Tate would finish the scoring by knocking his second field goal of the night through the uprights, this one a 25-yarder.
