Phil Steele Names 17 Falcons to Preseason All-MAC Team

The Bowling Green State University football team had 17 players named to Phil Steele's 2013 Preseason All-MAC Team, announced this morning. The Falcons had four representatives on the first-team, three second-team members, four players on the third-team and six more Falcons were named fourth-team preseason All-MAC.
Those 17 players were the most of any team in the conference. Arch-rival Toledo was second with 14, followed by Northern Illinois (13), Ball State (12), Buffalo (8), Miami (8), Kent State (8), Western Michigan (8), Central Michigan (7), Ohio (7), Akron (5), UMass (3) and Eastern Michigan (2).
Alex Bayer (TE), Dominic Flewellyn (OG), BooBoo Gates (S) and Gabe Martin (LB) were first-team honorees, while Ted Ouellet (DT), Paul Swan (LB) and Cameron Truss (CB) represented BGSU on the second-team.
BGSU had four players named third-team All-MAC, including Fahn Cooper (OT) Chief Kekuewa (C), Charlie Walker (DE) and Brian Schmiedebusch (P) and on the fourth-team were Ryan Burbrink (PR), Chris Gallon (WR), Shaun Joplin (WR), D.J. Lynch (LB), Bryan Thomas (DE) and Ryland Ward (S).
Overall, the Falcons had six players on offense, nine players on defense and two special teams players named All-MAC by Phil Steele.
BGSU opens the season on Aug. 29 at home versus Tulsa.
