June 10, 2013 | Women's Golf
The Bowling Green State University women's golf team announced its 2013-14 schedule this afternoon, a schedule that will feature 10 tournaments. A few highlights of the schedule will include the annual Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, the Women's Mid-American Match Play Event and the Rio Verde Invitational.
“We are very excited about the 2013-14 season and look forward to building on last season's success,” said head coach Stephanie Young. “There are many new venues on the schedule this year that will provide the student-athletes with great experiences.”
Speaking of that success, the Falcons will compete in six tournaments in which they finished in the top-five last season and had three top-two finishes during arguably the greatest season in the history of BGSU women's golf.
BGSU will open the year at the Redbird Invitational (Sept. 8-9), an event they finished second in 2012-13. The following week they will travel to Waynesville, NC for the Great Smokies Intercollegiate (Sept. 16-17), hosted by Western Carolina.
The Orange and Brown will return to the state of Ohio on Sept. 23-24 to defend their championship at the Cleveland State Invitational. BGSU will conclude their fall schedule with The Preview (Oct. 7-8) and the Rocket Classic (Oct. 14-15).
The spring campaign will begin with a bang, with BGSU hosting the Women's Mid-American Match Play Event in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. on Feb. 3-4. The two-day event is the first-ever match play event in conference history.
Other spring tournaments include the Rio Verde Invitational (March 7-9), Colonel Classic (April 4-5), Dolores Black Falcon Invitational (April 12-13) and the MAC Championships (April 25-27).
“Next year's team has a great mix of both young talent and solid upperclassmen experience which should help us continue to be competitive throughout the season'” said Young.
When 2013-14 begins the Falcons' roster will feature two seniors, two juniors, three sophomores and a pair of freshmen.
