2013 Cross Country Schedule Highlighted By Hosting MAC Championships
July 01, 2013 | Men's Cross Country
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University cross country coach Lou Snelling has announced the 2013 men's and women's cross country schedule. Among the highlights on the schedule is the MAC Championships, which BGSU will host Nov. 2.
"This year is particularly special with hosting the MAC Cross Country Championships at Forrest Creason Golf Course," Snelling said. "Accordingly, we will get a preview of that course at the Mel Brodt Invitational Sept. 13."
The Falcons will open the season Aug. 30 at the EMU Open as the first of four regular season competitions. The team will hold its annual Mel Brodt Collegiate Opener Sept. 13 and will run at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by Cedarville, on Oct. 4.
BGSU is scheduled to compete at either the Bradley Classic Oct. 18 or the Indiana State Pre-National Invitational Oct. 19. Indiana State hosts the NCAA Championships this year.
Following those meets, BGSU will host the MAC Championships Nov. 2 before running at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals in Madison, Wisc. Nov. 15. The NCAA National Championships take place Nov. 23.
"Our big goals revolve around the month of November with the championship meets," Snelling said. "The rest of the schedule has been set to prepare us for those meets. This year's squad is still very young, but at the same time, has more experience than either of the last two years. This schedule will prepare us to take the next step as a cross country program and continue to move up the rankings in the conference and region."
