Around The Hoop: Former Falcons Making News

With BGSU men's basketball season tickets now on sale (CLICK FOR MORE INFORMATION), it's time to take a look at some of the former Falcons who have been making news over the past few days and weeks.
* When BGSU men's basketball won the 2008-09 Mid-American Conference regular season championship, senior Nate Miller spearheaded the Falcons during the season's stretch run. Now Miller is giving back. He ran a camp in of Springfield, Ohio that concluded with an All-Star game to benefit his hometown. Among those who participated in the game were Daequan Cook and Jon Diebler. The Springfield News-Sun talked with Miller, who just signed a two-year extension to play in Israel, about the camp. * In March, the San Francisco Chronicle featured former BGSU Falcon and NBA Hall of Famer Nate Thurmond. READ THE RELEASE HERE
* Scott Thomas, who was a freshman on the 2008-09 MAC Championship team, finished his career ranked among the top 10 all-time at BGSU in rebounding, assists and steals. After earning team MVP honors in his first year overseas with Cuxhaven in Germany, he signed to play the upcoming season in Belgium with Antwerp.

* Speaking of Josh Almanson, the Sentinel-Tribune caught up with him recently at his annual basketball camp in Bowling Green's Community Center. READ THE LATEST ON JOSH HERE
* Former Falcon Jay Larranaga was rumored as a candidate for the head coaching job with the Boston Celtics and is now being rumored as a candidate with the Philadelphia 76ers (LATEST NEWS BY CLICKING HERE). Larranaga spent two seasons as head coach of the Erie BayHawks in the NBA Developmental League and is currently an assistant coach with the Celtics.
