Falcon Softball Offers Player Experience Camp

Event slated for late August on the BGSU campus
Bowling Green State University softball coach Shannon Salsburg has announced that registration is now open for the 2013 Player Experience Camp. The BGSU Player Experience Camp is intended for high school student-athletes who are interested in competing at the collegiate level. Athletes will learn and exhibit offensive skills, defensive skills, pitching, catching and baserunning through drills and games.

The camp will also provide informational sessions on recruiting and academic demands, strength and sport specific training, team building and mental training. The schedule for the camp is as follows:
Friday, August 30, 2013 – UNOFFICIAL VISIT DAY – FREE
An important part of the recruiting process is visiting schools. As part of the camp, BGSU Softball will be hosting an unofficial visit day for all participants. Our goal is to expose each participant to how an unofficial visit works in order to aid in their recruiting process in the future. An itinerary will be sent closer to camp. It will include the following sessions:
• Recruiting and Academic Meeting
• Campus Tour
• Lunch (not provided) in the student union with current BGSU Softball Players
• Observe a Team Conditioning Session
• Q & A with BGSU Softball Team
Saturday, August 31, 2013 – BGSU PLAYER EXPERIENCE CAMP – $100

Camp Schedule
8:00 – 8:25 am Registration
8:30 am Dynamic Warm Up
9:00 am Games and Team Sessions Begin
1:15 – 2:15 pm Lunch (Not provided)
2:15 pm Recruiting Informational Session
3:15 pm Games and Team Sessions Resume
7:30 pm Camp Ends
*A detailed schedule of each individual's team will be sent via email the week prior to camp
Additional Information
• Camp is designed for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 high school graduates only
• Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt to wear for the day
• Teams will be coached by BGSU athletes
• Each team will play 2 games (1 hour and 15 minutes long). The BGSU Softball staff will be on hand instructing and talking strategy with participants. During the games, the teams will be presented with common situations to work on game day knowledge.
• Each team will have sessions focused on hitting, baserunning, defense, sport specific training, team building and mental training.
• Athletes need to bring personal equipment, such as gloves, bats, cleats, tennis shoes, catching gear and helmets
• Lunch will not be provided
