Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at Marshall Invitational

Narro improves in each of his three rounds, shooting a team-low 217.
Huntington, W.Va – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team finished ninth at the 44th Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Tuesday (Sept. 10), with a 54-hole score of 877. Freshman Jose Narro paced the Falcons with a final round 71, finishing with a team-best 217 for the tournament.
Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Narro improved in each of his three rounds. Narro was able to improve from a first round 3-over-par 74 to a 1-over-par 72 yesterday, only to follow it with an even-par round on Tuesday. Narro finished tied for 21st place for the tournament.
Junior Ryan Triller also improved in his final round playing at Guyan Golf & Country Club. Triller, who played consistently yesterday with a 73 and 74, saved his best round for the final day, shooting a 1-over 72. Triller carded a 219 overall for the tournament, placing him tied for 31st overall.
Freshman Brett Rinker, who shot a team-low 142 yesterday, finished with a 6-over 77 in his final round. Overall, Rinker also carded a 219 for the tournament, finishing tied for 31st.
Captains Chris Melvin and Josh Bialecki also finished their final rounds. Melvin, who shot a 75 and 70 in the first two rounds, finished the final round with a 6-over-par 77, giving him a total of 222 for the tournament. Bialecki, who shot a 75 and 76 in the first two rounds, also shot a 6-over-par 77,carding a 228 total for the 54-hole tournament.
Sophomore Holden Pahr, who competed as an individual over the weekend, shot a final round 74. Pahr finished the 54-hole tournament with a 224 total, finishing tied for 49th.
The Orange and Brown will be back in action on home grass next Monday, Sept. 16 at Stone Ridge Golf Club, hosting the John Piper Intercollegiate tournament in Bowling Green, Ohio. BGSU will look to improve on a fifth-place finished from a year ago. The tournament will take place all day on Monday and Tuesday.
