September 30, 2013 | Football
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt sophomore running back Travis Greene has been named the Mid-American Conference's East Division Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in BGSU's 31-14 victory over Akron Saturday at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.
Greene, from Carol City, Fla., had 24 carries for 142 yards and added four catches for 71 more yards. He added a third quarter rushing touchdown and a fourth quarter receiving touchdown as the Falcons overcame an early 14-3 deficit. For Greene, the game marked his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game and third of the season. It was also a career-high in receiving yards for the converted wide receiver.
Greene is the third BGSU football player to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors from the MAC this year as the Falcons have monopolized the award in the early-going. Freshman running back William Houston was honored in week one and redshirt sophomore quarterback Matt Johnson earned the award in weeks two and four.
Bowling Green improved to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in MAC play with Saturday's win. The Falcons look to hold onto sole possession of first place in the MAC East Division Saturday when they host Massachusetts at 3:30 pm.
