THE BATTLE OF I-75
Bowling Green and Toledo have not swam against each other in a regular season dual meet since the Rockets beat the Falcons 195-80 back on Jan. 28, 2011. Since that point, the Falcons have steadily improved but face an uphill battle Friday night without any diving points to be had. A year ago at the MAC Championships, BGSU ended third overall and Toledo finished sixth. This year, however, Bowling Green is 0-2 in MAC dual meets, while Toledo is 3-0. While BGSU freshman swimmer Victoria Griffin is unbeaten in dual meets in the 100 and 200 freestyle, her biggest challengers in this meet could come from her own teammates as Toledo's top ranked swimmer in those events is 14th and 15th in the MAC respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
Bowling Green came from 12 points behind with just two events to go to defeat Michigan State 150-144 Friday night. The Falcons got a win from Joelle Scheps in the 200 individual medley to cut the deficit to just three points and the 200 freestyle relay team of Victoria Griffin, Kayla Effinger, Hannah Newman and Brittany Szekely won the race and the meet. Bowling Green won eight of the 14 swimming events with Griffin, Scheps and Maya Skorupski each earning a pair of victories.
INDIVIDUAL RANKINGS
BGSU freshman Victoria Griffin has swam the fastest time in the Mid-American Conference this year in the 100 freestyle at 49.87 seconds.
