Trio of Falcons Named to Madness 2014-2015 Preseason MAC All-Conference Teams

Madness 2014-15 Preseason Mid-American All Conference Teams
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University's Richaun Holmes, Jehvon Clarke and Chauncey Orr were all named to the Madness 2014-15 Preseason Mid-American All-Conference Teams by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com), it was released on Friday, Oct. 10.
After earning a spot on the College Sports Madness MAC All-Conference Third-Team a season ago, both Holmes and Clarke were named to the Preseason Second-Team.
Orr, who missed all but one game last year due to an injury and received a medical redshirt, was named to the Preseason Fourth-Team by College Sports Madness.
Holmes, who was also recognized as a MAC All-Conference Third-Team and a CollegeHoopsDaily.com MAC All-Conference selection last season, returns to BGSU for his senior season in 2014-15. Named the College Sports Madness MAC Player of the Week on Dec. 16 and the MAC East Division Player of the Week twice a year ago, the 6-8 forward became BGSU's all-time career blocked shots leader, surpassing Otis Polk's previous career mark of 159 career blocks last year. For the second straight season, Holmes' set a new BGSU single season blocks record with a team-high 88 blocked shots on the year, which was second overall in the MAC and ranked in the top-30 nationally all season long. He led the MAC and ranked in the top-25 in the NCAA all season long with an average of 2.8 blocks per game. Holmes led the team and was 13th in the MAC in scoring at 13.3 points per game, was tied for a team-high and tied for fifth overall in the MAC on the year with 7.7 rebounds per contest, and led the team with 425 points on the season. The Illinois native posted a team-high 50.7 field goal percentage, which was also tied for 10th overall in the MAC, and shot 70.6 percent from the free throw line, also tops on the team last season.
Clarke, who played and started all 32 games on the year at the point guard spot for BGSU last season, totaled a team-high 1,166 minutes on the year and led both the team and the MAC in minutes played at 36.4 minutes per contest. He also averaged 37.5 minutes of action in conference play, also tops in the MAC. The rising senior guard led the team in assists with 149 last season, which ranked fourth in the MAC at 4.7 assists per game. He finished last year tied for second on the team in scoring at 12.5 points per game and was second on the team, and fourth in the MAC, with 61 steals on the season, which is tied for ninth overall in BGSU's single-season.
Orr returns to the court for BGSU after missing all but one game last season due to an injury in the regular season opener versus Earlham. As a sophomore in 2012-13, Orr played in all 32 games and was only out of the starting lineup for Senior Night. He was third on the team in minutes played at 27.3 per contest and third in scoring at 7.5 points per game. The local Bowling Green High School product shot 35 percent from three-point range, 45 percent from the floor overall and made 82 percent of his free-throw attempts on the season.
The Falcons will open up the 2014-15 season with an exhibition contest on Friday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m. versus Notre Dame College at the Stroh Center.
The exhibition contest is one of 16 home contests for the Falcons and first year head coach Chris Jans at the Stroh Center in 2014-15.
