Rae Leads Women's Team at Louisville Cross Country Classic

Louisville, Ky. – The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team placed in the top half of the competition at the Louisville Cross Country Classic Saturday morning. The Falcons finished 15th out of 33 teams and were the highest placing Mid-American Conference team in the 5,000-meter race.

BGSU had three runners in the top 80 finishers. For the third consecutive meet this season, junior Becca Rae placed first on the team (68/300 overall) with a time of 18:09.29.Â

"Collectively it was a good step for our team especially considering this was our first meet racing with a large field of competitors," Rae said. "It was a step in the right direction and we're looking to build on that in two weeks at Pre-Nationals."

Redshirt sophomore Mackenzie McMillin and redshirt junior Andrea Alt came in just one and three seconds, respectively, behind Rae.

In her first race of the season, Jasmine Redman finished fourth on the team with a time of 18:27:80. Not far behind Redman was redshirt freshman Allison Francis, who ran a personal best 18:28.86. Rounding out the top seven for the Falcons were junior Amanda Garlak and freshman Elena Lancioni, who ran in uniform for the first time.

The spread between the Orange and Brown's first and seventh runners was just under 30 seconds.

BGSU next competes at Indiana State Pre-Nationals on Oct. 18 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
