Davidson Named MAC East Special Teams Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio—Bowling Green State University punter Joe Davidson was named Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday. The weekly awards were announced by the MAC offices. It is the second weekly award of the season for Davidson.
Davidson, a native of Findlay, Ohio, flipped the field throughout the night despite tough weather conditions in a 30-20 win over Kent State. Davidson punted six times for an average of 41.5 yards, downing two inside the 20-yard line. His long punt came at 45 yards, which he registered on two different occasions.
Davidson and the Falcons will return to the field on Wednesday night, when they take on arch-rival Toledo at 8:00 p.m. The game between the two rivals will be aired on ESPN2.
East Division
Offensive Player of the Week: UMass WR Tajae Sharpe
UMass junior wide receiver Tajae Sharpe (Piscataway, N.J.) had a career-high 239 receiving yards and tied the UMass program record with 13 receptions for the third time this season in a 24-10 win over Ball State. Sharpe's 239 yards receiving were the second most in the NCAA this season, the second most for a single-game at UMass and the 11th-most in the history of the MAC. Nine of his receptions were for first downs and he was targeted 19 times overall. The performance put him over 1,200 yards for the season and 2,000 yards for his career. It also marked his first career 200+ yard performance and the fourth 100+ yard effort this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Kent State S Jordan Italiano
Kent State junior safety Jordan Italiano (Canfield, Ohio) recorded a career-high 16 tackles, intercepted a pass and forced a fumble in a 30-20 loss at Bowling Green. Italiano's 16 tackles, included nine solo stops and one tackle for loss.

Offensive Player of the Week: Western Michigan QB Zach Terrell
Western Michigan sophomore quarterback Zach Terrell (Fort Wayne, Ind.) combined for five touchdowns and 398 total yards in a 51-7 win over Eastern Michigan. His 99.96 QBR was the second-best single game rating in the last 10 seasons (according to ESPN Stats & Info). Terrell finished with an 89.4-percent completion percentage, raising his season total to a MAC-best 69.7. It was Terrel's third game of the season with at least four touchdowns through the air and second straight game of rushing for at least 40 yards and a touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Week: Toledo LB Junior Sylvestre
Toledo senior linebacker Junior Sylvestre (Hollywood, Fla.) collected a team-high 11 tackles in a 27-24 loss at Northern Illinois last Tuesday night. Sylvestre also added two tackles for loss.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Northern Illinois K Christian Hagan
Northern Illinois freshman kicker Christian Hagan (Omaha, Neb.) made his first two field goals as a collegiate kicker, to go with three extra points, in a 27-24 win over Toledo. Hagan scored the first points of the game with a 37-yard field goal with 7:46 to play in the first quarter, then hit a 19-yard try with 1:26 to play in the first half as three-points turned out to be the difference in the game. Hagan was also true on all three of his PAT kicks. He is now eight-of-eight on PATs on the season.
