THE SERIES WITH SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE: FIRST EVER MEETING
Tuesday night will be the first-ever meeting for the Falcons versus Southeast Missouri State of the Ohio Valley Conference.
CURRENT FALCONS VERSUS SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
No current Falcons have ever played against the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State.
COACH'S COMMENTS
"SEMO is a very talented basketball team. A lot of their guys are kids that have transferred from BCS type programs and were heavily recruited coming out of high school, and for whatever reason it didn't work at their first stop. They've put a collection of talented guys together to form this year's team. The thing that sticks out most is that when they walk through the airport or they're in warm-ups they got some guys that look the part."
"They'll test us defensively just with their individual ability. Us guarding the basketball and having some pride in our one-on-one defense will be a big key. The second key is getting back on defense because they are another team that is pushing the basketball hard and they've got some guys that can really run on the wing and they got some point guards that can really push the basketball. So make or miss, when we're through with offense we have got to do a good job of trying to get all five guys back and set our defense, and limit their fast break opportunities."
"They are similar to us in that they play a lot of guys. If you look across their stat sheet, they got a lot of guys that play double figure minutes and they got four double figure scorers. And then they got guys averaging 9, 7, 5, 5 - so they have balance scoring. So it is not a game where we have to focus on one-or-two individuals, it's going to be a team effort to try to slow them down. Just like when teams prepare against us, it's not going to be a situation where they're focused on one guy. They're coming in her with some momentum. They went out to California and lost two games to start the season, and now they are coming in here at full strength now, as opposed to the first two games when they weren't, and they have won the last two games. So they've had some positive momentum coming into our game."
A WIN WOULD ...
* Make BGSU 3-0 to start the season for the first time since opening up the 1999-2000 season with three straight wins. That year the Falcons won the MAC Championship.
* Make first year head coach Chris Jans the first BGSU men's basketball coach since Harold Anderson to win his first three games as the head coach of the Falcons. In his first year as head coach in 1942-43, Anderson won his first 14 games with the Falcons.
* Give BGSU it's first-ever win over Southeast Missouri State, making the Falcons 1-0 all-time versus the Redhawks.
HOME SWEET STROH
BGSU has called the Stroh Center home since the 2011-12 season and has posted an overall record of 31-17 at the venue. The Falcons have won seven or more games at home every season since the Stroh's opening for the 2011-12 season and are 1-0 at home thus far this year.
THAT 70'S STROH
BGSU is a perfect 17-0 at the Stroh when scoring 70 points or more in a contest. That means the Falcons have scored 70 or more points at home in over half of their wins at home in front of the home crowd in the Stroh Center.
IT'S A BLOCK PARTY
In just two games thus far this season, the Falcons are averaging 9.0 blocks per game as a team. BGSU posted 11 blocks in the season opener at Drake and then registered seven blocks in the home opener versus Wright State. Eight different Falcons have recorded at least one block on the year, while senior Richaun Holmes has already totaled 10 swats for the season.
SUB!!!!!!!!!!
Coach Jans has proven early that he is not afraid to go to his bench, as 15 different players have already seen time on the floor for the Falcons this season. In fact, the Falcons have outscored their opponents 75-29 in bench points this year.
BOWLING GREEN RECEIVES ONE VOTE IN MID-MAJOR TOP-25 POLL - NOV. 17
Bowling Green received one vote in last week's CollegeInsider.com Men's Mid-Major Top-25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday, Nov. 17. The Falcons are 2-0 thus far this season with a 77-58 road win at Drake on Nov. 15 and a home win versus Wright State 70-55 on Nov. 19. (New Poll not released yet by time of the release of game notes.)
FALCONS STELLAR IN HOME OPENERS
BGSU has been almost unbeatable in their home openers over the program's now 100th season of play. The Falcons have posted an overall record of 87-13 in home openers since tipping-off the inaugural season in 1915-16. The home opening win versus Wright State on Nov. 19, was the 23rd straight home opening win for the Falcons. The last BGSU loss in a home opener was to Findlay back in 1991-92.
BEWARE: NO FIELD GOALS ALLOWED
In the Falcons' 70-55 win over Wright State on Nov. 19, the BGSU defense held the Raiders without a made field goal for the final 10:10 of the second half of the game. Wright State scored just nine points during that span, all of which came from the free throw line. Â
MAGIC NUMBER 11
The number 11 proved to be one of significance in the season opening win at Drake, as the Falcons posted 11 blocks and knocked down 11 three-pointers for the contest.
HISTORY MADE IN DISMANTLING OF DRAKE
Head Coach Chris Jans recorded his first career win at BGSU in the 77-58 win at Drake on Nov. 15. The win was also Jans' first NCAA Division I career win as a head coach. The season opening road win was also the first season opening true road win for the Falcons since beating James Madison on the road in 1996-97.
FALCONS IN SEASON OPENERS
With the Falcons 77-58 road win over Drake in the 2014-15 season opener, BGSU has an record of 73-27 in their 100 season openers. BGSU has won each of its last four season openers and six of their last seven opening contests.
DEFEATING DRAKE
The Falcons led a total of 39:31 minutes of the 40 minute contest in the 77-58 win over Drake in the season opener on Nov. 15. BGSU hit 11 treys and shot 51.8 percent overall to hold a double digit lead for most of the contest. BGSU posted 11 blocks and 10 steals for the game and held Drake to 37.3 percent shooting overall for the contest. BGSU posted 22 points off 14 Drake turnovers and outscored the Bulldogs 45-13 in bench points.
EXAMINING THE EXHIBITION WIN
The Falcons had 14 different players score, which included four different players posting double digit points, in an 88-64 win over Notre Dame College in exhibition play on Nov. 7. After a over zealous start that saw NDC take an early lead, BGSU used a 19-3 run in the first half to take a lead that they would hold for over 35 minutes of the game. The Falcons' bench outscored Notre Dame's bench 54-14 and held a 20-2 advantage in second chance points on a 47-27 rebounding edge.
PRESEASON LOVE FOR MR. HOLMES
Senior Richaun Holmes received a lot of preseason attention this fall, as the forward was named to a number of preseason teams.

FAMILIAR FACES FOR THE FALCONS
This season, BGSU returns 11 players from last year's roster including four starters in Richaun Holmes, Jehvon Clarke, Spencer Parker and Anthony Henderson. In fact, those four players all averaged over 32.0 minutes per game last season for the Falcons.
HE'S BACK - BACK AGAIN
Chauncey Orr is back this season and made a start in both the season opener at Drake on Nov. 15 and in the home opener versus Wright State on Nov. 19. Orr, who received a medical redshirt last season, had 14 points in the first half of the 2013-14 season opener before suffering the injury. The redshirt-junior played in all 32 games as a sophomore in 2012-13 where he averaged 7.5 points per game on 45 percent shooting from the field.
RETURN TO SENDER
Falcons' senior Richaun Holmes registered five blocks in both the season opener at Drake on Nov. 15. and in the home opener versus Wright State on Nov. 19. Holmes totaled a new BGSU school record for the most blocks in a single season last year with 88. In only two seasons at BGSU, Holmes has already become the Falcons' all-time career blocks leader and now has 171 career swats.
EXPERIENCED GROUP
The 2014-15 Falcons' roster is an experienced group, as the roster has 10 upperclassmen, including seven players that have played at least two years of NCAA Division I basketball. BGSU returned one redshirt senior in Anthony Henderson, three seniors in Richaun Holmes, Jehvon Clarke and Damarkeo Lyshe, as well as redshirt-juniors Chauncey Orr and Josh Gomez. On top of that, junior forward Spencer Parker returns along with three junior college transfers in Delvin Dickerson (Paris JC), Jovan Austin (Paris JC) and David Joseph (Howard College), who all were key parts in winning programs at the JUCO level prior to coming to BGSU.
A HANDFUL OF NEWCOMERS
Coach Chris Jans and his staff brought in a handful of newcomers in 2014-15 - five to be exact. Junior college transfers Delvin Dickerson (Houston, Texas/Paris JC), Jovan Austin (Grand Prairie, Texas/Paris JC) and David Joseph (Queens, N.Y./Howard College (Texas)) all joined the BGSU program over the summer and will have two years of eligibility for the Falcons. Freshmen Rasheed Worrell (Coker, Ala./Sipsey Valley H.S.) and Matt Fox (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) will both have four years of eligibility at BGSU heading into the 2014-15 season.
