Johnson Named MAC East Defensive Player Of The Week

Freshman had nine tackles and two interceptions in win at Akron
CLEVELAND, Ohio—Bowling Green State University true freshman Nick Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Week on Thursday (Nov. 6), announced this afternoon by the Mid-American Conference office. It is the first weekly award for Johnson in his career, and the second time this season that a BGSU defensive player has won the award.
A native of Canton, Ohio (Canton Timken HS), Johnson recorded nine tackles, two interceptions and three pass breakups in a 27-10 win at Akron on Tuesday night. Johnson's two interceptions bring his season total to four - tied for first in the MAC.
The Falcons continue MAC play next week with a Wednesday night #MACtion showdown with Kent State University. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. on ESPN2. With a win, the Orange and Brown would clinch the MAC's East Division for the second straight season.
