MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Day three at the 2014 Raycom Media Camellia Bowl was the busiest yet, as the Bowling Green State University football team was on the go in preparation for tonight's big game against South Alabama. The day started off with a breakfast in conjunction with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which was attended by hundreds of members from both teams and members of the community. After breakfast, about 25 members of each team went to greet and meet veterans at the Central Alabama Veterans Hospital.
Both teams then attended a luncheon in the afternoon, which featured keynote speaker Bobby Bowden, former head football coach at Florida State University. Several others had the chance to speak, including Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher, Executive Director of the Camellia Bowl Johnny Williams, and Alabama Governor Robert Bentley.
Following lunch, the team turned its attention to football with an afternoon walk through at the Cramton Bowl - the site of tonight's big game. The team was able to familiarize itself with the locker room, playing surface, and surroundings at the beautiful 25,000 seat stadium which is expected to play host to a sellout crowd this evening.
After practice the Falcons headed to Union Station where it was their turn to take the stage for the pep rally. Head coach Dino Babers spoke to those in attendance, before the players in attendance gave a rousing rendition of 'Ay Ziggy Zoomba'. The BGSU cheerleaders and band, who made the long trek to Montgomery to support the Falcons tonight, were also in attendance for the pep rally.
Prior to team meal on Friday night, Bowling Green State University took time to recognize 11 special young men who are earning their undergraduate degrees from BGSU this weekend. Babers spoke to the team and seniors' parents in attendance, before each players was called up to the front and presented their student-athlete medal by Director of Athletics Chris Kingston. Commissioner Steinbrecher was also in attendance for the special night, displaying the importance that education plays in the life of the student-athlete in the MAC. BGSU's 11 graduates, who will also play their final game in the Orange and Brown tonight are: Jude Adjei-Barimah, Dominique Carter, Darion Delaney, Heath Jackson, D.J. Lynch, Gabe Martin, Kendall Montgomery, Victor Osborne, Chris Pohlman, Jake Rogers, and Ryland Ward.
