BGSU Men’s Golf Falls Twice in Mid-American Match Play on Monday

Dade City, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University men's golf team suffered back-to-back losses on day one of the Mid-American Match Play event hosted by Ball State at the Lake Jovita Golf Course in Dade City, Fla. on Monday.
Bowling Green suffered a first round 4-2 loss to Ball State in the morning round of play, and then fell to Miami 5.5-0.5 in a back-and-forth match in round two on Monday afternoon.
In the opening round of play versus Ball State, BGSU freshman Brett Rinker defeated McCormick Clouser of the Cardinals 2 up thru all 18 holes of play, while senior Joshua Bialecki played well throughout his first round of play to earn a 4 up win thru 17 holes over Zach Yinger.
However, that would be the lone two wins for the Falcons in round one, as BGSU fell to the Cardinals in a rematch of last year's Championship match 4-2.
In round two, junior Joe Cooper finished all square in his head-to-head match with Jared Hammons of Miami, yet the RedHawks earn victories in each of the other five contests to beat the Falcons 5.5-0.5
BGSU will face-off with the Ohio Bobcats tomorrow morning in the consolation bracket.
Two teams did not complete the first two rounds of competition Monday and will resume play with two unfinished matches at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Eastern Michigan has sealed a spot in the Earl Yestingsmeier Championship Bracket and will face either Ball State or Xavier.
The Cardinals and Musketeers have two matches with one half a hole to finish in each match.
Once those matches are complete, the other team for the Championship Bracket will be determined.
Eastern Kentucky will face the loser of Ball State vs. Xavier match in the third-place match.
The Championship and third-place matches will begin on holes 1-6, while the two matches in the consolation bracket will start on 7-12.
