LAST TIME THEY MET
Date: Feb. 5, 2014
Location: Toledo, Ohio (Savage Arena)
Score: Toledo, 83-76
Notes: The Falcons got 23 points from both Jehvon Clarke and Anthony Henderson, yet saw their valiant comeback effort to overcome a slow start fall short, as Toledo shot 27 more free throws than the Falcons to hold off BGSU for the 83-76 win in Toledo, Ohio. The Falcons were whistled for 24 fouls for the game, compared to just 11 on the Rockets, as BGSU was 7-of-8 (87.5 percent) from the free throw line, while the Rockets were 29-of-35 (82.9 percent) from the charity stripe for the game. BGSU was plagued by foul trouble all game, as Richaun Holmes picked up two quick fouls and was forced to go to the bench less than three minutes into the game. BGSU had six players with three fouls or more for the contest. BGSU got to within one score of the Rockets on 11 different occasions in the final 20 minutes of play, yet couldn't get that one stop or that one go ahead basket to overcome a huge 16 point first half deficit. The Falcons opened up the second half of play on a 7-4 run to trim the Rockets' lead to six at 45-39 with 17:55 to go in the game. Following a Pearson layup by Toledo, the Falcons stayed hot offensively, getting a jumper from Clarke, two free throws from Parker and an fast break layup from Henderson to get to within one basket at 47-45 with just over 15 minutes in regulation. BGSU got to within two at 50-48 on a three-point from Henderson at the 13:59 mark, then cut the Toledo to one point at 55-54 with 11:30 to go in the contest. However, Toledo's Matt Smith hit a key three-pointer on the very next possession to push the home team's lead back out to four at 58-54. Baskets from Spencer Parker and Holmes put BGSU down just two at 58-56 and then 60-58, yet the Rockets were able to use free throws and two three-pointers from Justin Drummond over the next several possessions to stay out in front and push its lead to six at 71-65 with 5:25 to play. Back-to-back buckets from Henderson again put the Falcons down just one field goal at 71-69 with 3:16 to go; however, a jumper from Drummond less than a minute later again kept the Rockets out in front by four at 73-69. Over the final three minutes of the game, Toledo shot 12 free throws, hitting 10 of them down the stretch to hold off the Falcons second half charge and escape with the 83-76 home conference win.

LAST TIME OUT
Muncie, Ind. – Head Coach Louis Orr recorded both his 100th career win at BGSU and his 200th career win overall as a head coach on Saturday evening, as the Falcons used defense down the stretch to hold on for a 66-64 road win at Ball State. BGSU overcame 10 Ball State three-pointers by shooting 43.8 percent (28-of-64) from the floor overall and outscored the Cardinals 36-26 in points in the paint, 18-8 in points off turnovers and 19-11 in second chance points. Spencer Parker led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, while Richaun Holmes registered his sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Holmes also posted two blocks to increase his season total to 71 on the year, putting him only two shy of last year's Falcon single season record of 73. Jehvon Clarke chipped in with 11 points and seven assists, while senior Cameron Black hauled in 12 boards to go along with eight points and two blocked shots in 35 minutes of play. BGSU, who led for most of the contest, saw two straight layups from Majok and House over a three minute span give the Cardinals its first lead of the game at 48-47 at the 11 minute mark of the second half. The scoring drought, which reached four minutes, continued for the Falcons as BSU pushed its lead to five at 52-47, before an old-fashion three-point play from Black ended the lull for the orange and brown and put the Falcons down two at 52-50 with just over eight minutes to play. The Falcons cut the Ball State lead to one at 55-54 on a rebound and put back dunk from Holmes and then once more at 57-56 on a layup from Holmes at the four minute mark, yet Ball State answered each basket with points of its own to stay out in front as time ticked down in regulation. Down 59-56 with just over three minutes to go, Holmes hit a three-pointer from the left wing to tie the game up at 59-59. After Parker hit a contested layup 30 seconds later to put the Falcons in front by two at 61-59, Ball State's Bond answered with a driving layup of his own to tie the score up at 61-61. With a chance to retake the lead, Ball State's Bond missed on the free throw attempt to complete the three-point play. Just over a minute later, the Cardinals' Zavier Turner hit the 10th three-pointer of the game for the home team to give the Cardinals back the lead at 64-61 with 1:20 to play. On the next offensive BGSU possession, Parker was fouled on a steal attempt and went to the free throw line where he made both shots of a 1-and-1 to put the Falcons down just one at 64-63 with 1:01 left in regulation. The defense stepped up for the Falcons late, as a Ball State turnover led to a go-ahead layup from Anthony Henderson with 44 seconds to play, putting the score at 65-64. Ball State missed a free throw on the next possession, the front end of a 1-and-1, and Holmes grabbed the rebound and was immediately fouled. With 21 seconds remaining Holmes missed the front end of his 1-and-1 to give the Cardinals life. However, on the ensuing play, Turner drove down the left side of the lane where he had his shot blocked by Holmes who again was immediately fouled. Holmes would hit the first free throw to make it 66-64, but would miss the second. With six seconds remaining the Cardinals dribbled the ball down to the free throw line extended, but saw its last second effort shot not get off in time as the Falcons defense held on for the 66-64 road win.
HOLMES' HOUSE: CLOSING IN ON HIS OWN SINGLE-SEASON BLOCKS RECORD
Junior forward Richaun Holmes has totaled 71 blocks thus far this season and has posted five blocks or more in a single game six times this year. Last season, Holmes set a new BGSU single-season record with 73 blocks on the season overall and thus is only three blocks away from breaking his own single-season blocks record.
CLOSE CONTESTS
This season, BGSU has had 10 games decided by five points or less, including each of the last three games and six of the Falcons' 12 MAC contests this season. In fact, each of the Falcons' last three games - vs. Akron, at Kent State and at Ball State - have seen the outcome come down to the final shot of the game.
ORR'S MILESTONES IN WIN AT BALL STATE
Coach Louis Orr reached not one, but two milestones with the Falcons win at Ball State on Feb. 15. Orr posted his 100th win overall as the head coach at BGSU and also tallied the 200th win overall for his career as a head coach.
BUCKING THE TREND AS OF LATE
This season, the Falcons have been slow starters off of the opening tip, however, over the last two games BGSU has been bucking the trend. On Feb. 12 at Kent State, the Falcons started the game out on a 13-0 run, while on Feb. 15 at Ball State, BGSU opened the game up on an 8-0 run.
FIVE MINUTE WARNING: FALCONS CLUTCH SHOOTING
The Falcons as a team are shooting 43.4 percent from the floor and 64.4 percent from the free throw line in clutch situations this season - For these purposes, clutch is defined as (a) the final five minutes of a game when the scoring differential is single digits at the time the shot was attempted OR (b) any overtime. Richaun Holmes leads the Falcons in shooting during these clutch situations with a 70.8 field goal percentage, while both he and Spencer Parker are shooting over 68 percent from the free throw line during clutch time.
LAST SECOND GUT WRENCHING LOSSES
In each of the last two Falcon losses (Akron, 65-63; Kent State, 62-61), Bowling Green has lost on a late jump shot in the closing seconds and final possession of the game. Akron hit the go-ahead shot with just over two seconds to play to defeat BGSU 65-63 on Feb. 9, while Kent State hit a three-pointer in the final second to escape the Falcons on Feb. 12, 62-61.
STARTERS SHOULDERING SCORING LOAD
The five starters for BGSU - Jehvon Clarke, Anthony Henderson, Spencer Parker, Richaun Holmes and Cameron Black - are shouldering most of the scoring load this season for the Falcons, as they combined are averaging 89.4 percent of the scoring for BGSU this season. The five starters have combined for a total of 1,431 points for BGSU this season, while the rest of the team has scored a total of 169 points. That is an average of just over 57.2 points per game for the starters and just under 6.8 points per contest from the non-starting five this season.
FOUR SCORES .... IN MAC PLAY
The Falcons have four players averaging double digit points thus far this year in MAC play. Jehvon Clarke (14.1), Richaun Holmes (13.1), Spencer Parker (13.1) and Anthony Henderson (11.7) are all averaging double figures in BGSU's 12 MAC games.
HOLMES' DUNK IN THE FIRST HALF VS. AKRON PLAY #2 ON ESPN'S WEEKEND TOP PLAYS

DOUBLE DIGIT DEFICIT DISTRESSES
Bowling Green has proven to be a notoriously slow starting them this season, as the Falcons have fallen behind by double digits in 18 of its 25 contests this season. Oddly enough, when BGSU doesn't fall behind by double digits (7 times) the Falcons are 6-1 on the season. BGSU is just 5-13 in the 18 contests in which the orange and brown has trailed by double digits at some point in the game.
GETTING TO THE LINE
Aggressive play has aided the Falcons this season, as BGSU is 7-2 on the year when making more free throws than its opponent for the game. Overall BGSU is 57-21 under head coach Louis Orr when hitting more free throws than its foes over the last six + seasons.
70 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
The magic number for the Falcons is 70 - as in 70 points per game. BGSU is 4-2 this season when scoring 70 points or more and 43-17 overall under head coach Louis Orr since his first year at BGSU in 2007-08. On the flip side, Bowling Green is only 7-12 this year when scoring less than 70 points and 59-68 overall during Orr's tenure when not amassing 70 points or more.
WORKING OVERTIME ON THE FLOOR
A number of BGSU players in Jehvon Clarke, Anthony Henderson, Damarkeo Lyshe and Spencer Parker have all logged more minutes this season alone than they had for their entire careers prior to this year.
COMEBACK KIDS
In each of the Falcons last four wins - at Western Michigan, at Ohio, versus Buffalo at home and at Ball State - BGSU has overcome a deficit at some point in the contest. At Western Michigan, BGSU came back from a 15-point deficit in the second half to earn a 69-64 win. Versus Ohio, the Falcons overcame an 11 point first half lead to upend the Bobcats 58-56, and at home against Buffalo, BGSU overcame a 10 point first half deficit to storm back for a 74-68 win. Against Ball State, BGSU trailed by as much as three points less than two minutes to play in a 66-64 road win.
ROAD TRIUMPHS IN 2013-14
Bowling Green has posted four road wins this season - at Morehead State, at Western Michigan, at Ohio and at Ball State - which is four times as many true road wins than last season. Prior to last season, the Falcons won only four road games in each of the previous two years.
A BLOCK FOR BLACK & HOLMES - SHARPIE
You can sharpie in a block for both Cam Black and Richaun Holmes at the opening tip, as each Falcon big has posted at least one block in a game double digit times. Holmes has registered at least one block in 23 contests this season, while Black has recorded at least one swat in 19 different games on the year.
CHASING OTIS
Both Richaun Holmes and Cameron Black are chasing former Falcon Otis Polk for the most career blocks in BGSU men's basketball history. Polk's 159 career swats is 15 blocks ahead of Holmes who is in second-place overall with 144 career rejections. Black is only one spot behind Holmes with his 140 career blocks.
CLARKE LEADING BY EXAMPLE
Over the last seven games, Clarke has averaged 16.1 points, 6.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per contest for the Falcons. The junior guard has scored in double figures in six of the last seven contests, including posting a career-high in points twice during that span.
ANT-THREE-NY ON FIRE SINCE KALAMAZOO

Over his last nine games, which includes the WMU win, Henderson has shot 48.9 percent from downtown, as he is 23-of-47 from long range.

2ND HALF > 1ST HALF
Bowling Green has proven to be a second half team this season, as the Falcons have scored 89 more points (842 > 753) over the final 20 minutes of play compared to the first 20 minutes of action so far this year. KEEPERS OF THE RIM: BLOCK BROTHERS

Both Holmes (144) and Black (140) are already in the top-three all-time at BGSU in career blocked shots.

Bowling Green has also seen a handful of players set career marks in other statistical categories such as rebounds, steals, assists, blocked shots and minutes played.
PARKER STEPPING UP
Sophomore Spencer Parker has stepped up his game thus far this season, as the forward is averaging 13.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game on the year. Parker, who was thrust into the starting lineup in the second game of the season due to injuries, has scored in double figures in 20 contests for Bowling Green this year, including setting a career-high in points per game on four different occasions. He also has surpassed the 20 point mark four times this season. Parker is also second on the team and in the MAC in minutes played per game with 35.1 per contest.
PAINT PRESENCE
Head Coach Louis Orr's philosophy is always to play inside-out and the Falcons have done that well during his tenure. Over his last four-plus seasons, BGSU has scored 20 or more points in the paint in 135-of-158 games. BGSU has scored a high of 58 points in the paint twice during that span, including 58 points in a win versus Earlham in the season opener.
HISTORICAL ROAD WINS
With their back-to-back road wins at Western Michigan and at Ohio, the Falcons posted wins at Kalamazoo, Mich. and at Athens, Ohio for the first time in the same year since the 1990-91 season.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
In the last two years, the Stroh Center has proven to be a difficult place for opponents to play. The Falcons went 23-9 at home over the last two years, including posting a 3-0 mark at home in 2011-12 against teams that eventually went to the NCAA Tournament. Overall, the Falcons are 29-15 in the Stroh Center, which comes out to a .659 winning percentage.

THE BUCK STOPS AT 13 POINTS
The Falcons ran out to a 13 point lead to start the contest (13-0) at Kent State and then another 13 point lead at 40-27 to start the second half, yet could not extend the lead past 13 points as the Golden Flashes battled back to defeat BGSU 62-61 on a last second three-pointer.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
For the first time in over two years, the Falcons had two players each post a double-double in the same game. Richaun Holmes (16 points / 10 rebs.) and Jehvon Clarke (11 points / 11 rebs.) each posted a double-double for BGSU in the 74-68 win over Buffalo on Feb. 2.
ONE DIME SHY OF A TRIPLE-DOUBLE
Junior guard Jehvon Clarke posted his first career double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Buffalo on Feb. 2, but he was also only one assist shy of recording the first triple-double of his career as he dished out nine helpers in the win. The last Falcon to register a triple-double was Nate Miller against Buffalo back on Feb. 13, 2007.
CLEANING THE GLASS
Juniors Richaun Holmes and Jehvon Clarke became the first BGSU duo since 2011-12 to each post 10 rebounds or more in the same game. MUCH NEEDED ROAD WIN
The Falcons picked up its first road of the season on Dec. 15, as BGSU defeated Morehead State 67-61 in Morehead, Ky. The road win was the first non-conference road win for BGSU since a 61-53 win at FIU on Dec. 22, 2011 and is the first overall road win for the Falcons since last year, a 57-41 road win at Northern Illinois on Feb. 6, 2013.
DOUBLE-DOUBLE X TWO
Senior Cam Black posted two straight double-doubles in the Falcons two contests in Cancun, Mexico at the 2013 Cancun Challenge. The 6-10 center posted 12 points and 14 rebounds versus Presbyterian and then 10 points and 13 rebounds against Oral Roberts.
