Brozovich, Drayton win two matches apiece

The host University of Cincinnati eked out a 4-3 decision over the Bowling Green State University tennis team Saturday afternoon (Feb. 22) in the Queen City. The non-conference dual match was held at Western Tennis & Fitness Club.

With the win, the Bearcats improve to 4-6 on the season, while dropping the Falcons to 4-3.

Sophomore Katie Brozovich and freshman Hannah Drayton each won a pair of matches for the Brown and Orange. Brozovich combined with senior Nikki Chiricosta for an 8-6 win at the second doubles flight, then rallied from behind for a three-set win over UC's Caitlin O'Gara in the number-three singles match.

Drayton teamed with fellow freshman Harley Hutchison for a decisive 8-2 win at the third doubles flight, and she lost only three total games in her singles victory over the Bearcats' Sierra Sullivan at the fifth level.

Host UC, however, captured straight-sets singles wins at flights number one, four and six, and the home team's Ashleigh Witte picked up the final point with a three-set triumph over Chiricosta at the second flight.

The Falcons are now idle until the team's spring trip, when BG heads to Palm Springs, Calif., for three matches in a four-day span from March 10-13.
