Â
GRIFFIN NAMED MAC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK FOUR TIMES
It hasn't taken long for Victoria Griffin to make her mark in the Mid-American Conference. The freshman earned MAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the fourth time on Feb. 3 after posting the best times in the conference in both the 100 and 200 freestyle over the weekend. She also received the award on Jan. 20 after winning two individual events and swimming on a winning relay in the 150-144 victory over Michigan State. She was honored for the first time in her career Nov. 4 after winning three individual events and two relay races in weekend meets against Miami and Xavier. Â
CARRILLO CONTROLS THE BREASTSTROKE
A year ago, Daniela Carrillo competed at the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, setting BGSU school records in both events. Once again, she is in position to represent the University, ranking among the top five in the MAC in both.
Â
CLOSING STRONG
Bowling Green has closed out dual meets in impressive fashion, winning the final relay of the competition seven straight times. In three of those dual meets, the winning team was yet to be determined heading into the final race. At Michigan State, BGSU trailed by three points before winning the 200 freestyle relay to win the meet. A week later, Bowling Green trailed rival Toledo by one point heading into the 200 free relay and won by the narrowest of margins, .03 seconds. Just a week later, the Falcons narrowly led Ohio heading into the 400 medley relay but BGSU clinched the win by taking first place. Bowling Green has also won that final relay against Xavier, Oakland and Marshall during the stretch.
