Melvin Posts Par, As Falcons Complete Day Two at 2014 Desert Shootout

Goodyear, Ariz. – Senior Chris Melvin posted a 72, even par, on day two of the 2014 Desert Shootout to lead the Bowling Green State University Falcons on Friday at the Palm Valley Country Club golf course in Goodyear, Ariz.
All five Falcons improved its 18-hole score over the second round of play on Friday, as BGSU carded a team score of 293, +5. Along with their first round 305, +17, on Thursday, the Falcons sit in a tie for 14th-place overall with Creighton with a two-round combined team score of 598, +22.
Melvin followed up his first round 76, +4, on Thursday with a BGSU low round 72, even par, on Friday to post a combined 36-hole score of 148, +4.
Like Melvin, freshman Jose Narro improved his score over the second day of play as he carded a 73, +1, on Friday, which was one stroke ahead of his first round score of 74, +2, to give him a two-round combined score of 147, +3.
Making the biggest move on the day for BGSU was Ryan Triller, as the junior turned in a second round 73, +1, a whole five strokes better from his first round 78, +6, just yesterday. Triller will head into the final round of play on Saturday with a combined score of 151, +7.
Both Joe Cooper and Brett Rinker each improved their second round scores by two strokes, as Cooper posted a second round score of 75, +3, while Rinker recorded a round two score of 76, +4. Coupled with their first round scores on day one, Cooper's combined two-round score sits at 152, +8, (77-75), while Rinker has registered a 36-hole score of 154, +10 (78-76).
