BGSU begins season-long four-match homestand Friday vs. NIU

With the win, the Eagles improve to 11-6 overall, and Eastern is now a perfect 4-0 in the MAC. The Falcons drop to 6-6 and 1-2, respectively.
The hosts won each of the three doubles matches, then took five singles contests in straight sets. The only match to require a third set came at the number-three flight, where BGSU sophomore Katie Brozovich dropped the first set, 6-1, to Nino Mebuke, but rallied back for a 6-4 win in the second set. However, Mebuke managed to get past Brozovich, 7-5, in the third set to take the win.
Eastern took an early lead by winning the three doubles matches. Diana Davitaia and Maria Paula Ribero got past Brozovich and senior Nikki Chiricosta, 8-3, at the second flight, while Mebuke and Klara Supejova downed senior Emily Reuland and sophomore Drew Fillis by an 8-4 outcome at the top flight. Eastern's Mariya Toncheva and Zsofia Biro bested BG freshmen Hannah Drayton and Harley Hutchison at the third level to complete the sweep.
In singles play, the third-flight match was the only one to require three sets, but Drayton extended Toncheva to a 7-5 first set at the fourth flight before succumbing. Three other matches saw the first set end with EMU winning by a 6-4 count, including the first- (Supejova vs. Chiricosta), second- (Davitaia vs. Reuland) and fifth-flighted (Friedrichs vs. Fillis) matches.
The Falcons begin a season-long, four-match homestand on Friday (April 4), hosting Northern Illinois. Then, BG will take on Chicago State the following day in the Falcons' final non-conference match of the season.
