Bartell Named MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University women's golfer Lily Bartell was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Thursday.
BGSU's Bartell posted her first-ever intercollegiate win last weekend, as the sophomore won the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational Tournament at the Stone Ridge Golf Club. Bartell carded a first round 76, +4, to finish day one in a tie for sixth-place overall. She then registered a second round low score of 75, +3, on a windy Sunday morning, to jump in front and earn the win with a two-round combined tournament score of 151, +7.
The sophomore finished the tournament tied for second overall in par-3 scoring (3.12, +1), par-4 scoring (4.25, +5) and in pars with 26 over the 36 holes of play.
Bartell came from behind with a strong second round score to edge Kelsey Murphy of Eastern Michigan and Sydney MacDonald of South Dakota State by one stroke.
The first-place win is Bartell's fourth top-five finish this season and her second straight top-four finish overall.
The conference weekly award is the first for Bartell.
With the naming of Jose Narro as the MAC Men's Golfer of the Week as well, the Falcons swept the conference weekly golf awards.
