Football Commit Callaway Drafted By Cleveland Indians

Incoming freshman quarterback taken in 34th round of MLB First Year Player Draft
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cody Callaway, who will be a freshman quarterback next season at Bowling Green State University, was drafted in the 34th round of the Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on Saturday afternoon. Callaway, who attended Grafton Midview High School, is an All-State football and baseball player. He signed his National Letter of Intent to Bowling Green on Feb. 5 to play football, and is also expected to play baseball.
As a football player, Callaway was on the varsity team during all four seasons. He passed for the Lorain County record of 7,810 yards and 69 touchdowns during his career. He had 8,840 yards from scrimmage in his illustrious career. A three-time All-State selection, Callaway threw for 2,496 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2013. As a junior, he earned Northeast Lakes District Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 2,030 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Callaway's father, Dwayne, played baseball at Bowling Green. On the field, the younger Callaway batted .400 with 19 runs scored and 33 runs batted in during his senior season. He hit seven home runs and was walked 18 times, including 13 of them intentionally. Callaway was taken by the Cleveland Indians with the 1,028th pick of the draft.
