Freshman Spotlight: Nick Voth

Bowling Green, Ohio -- Over the course of the season, BGSU Athletic Communications will introduce three freshmen runners from the women's cross country team and three from the men's team. The first of this three-part segment will spotlight Nick Voth.
Voth is a freshman from Grand Blacnc, Michigan intending to major in exercise science. In high school, he was a three-time MHSAA Division I state qualifier, academic all-conference and academic all-state performer. A two-time coaches award recipient, Voth also earned three varsity letters in cross country.
This season at BGSU, Voth finished the Toledo Invitational third on the team and was the second Falcon to cross the finish line at the Mel Brodt Collegiate.
One fun fact about yourself:
I have run rim to rim of the Grand Canyon and climbed Mt. Elbert in Colorado (Second highest mountain in lower 48 states).
On interests away from the course:
Slalom water skiing, playing golf, watching college basketball
On difficulties overcome in your career so far:
Overcoming disappointing performances…learning from failure.

Shooting free throws
What do you like most about Bowling Green:
Academic opportunities available and how my course selection will be specific to the physical therapy schools I will apply to.

Post long run trips to Dunkin'
On biggest inspiration:
Coach back home in Michigan, Mike Scannell
On favorite cross country moment:
Don't have any specific memory, just training with a great group of guys back home and learning a lot about training and life from my coach, Mike Scannell.
What is on your bucket list:
Attend the Olympics and run up Pikes Peak
Essential college item you can't live without:
Bike to get to practice
On biggest goal for Falcon career:
All-MAC
Favorite restaurant in the area:
Pita Pit – Club on wheat with lettuce, tomato, and pepper jack cheese
Scariest cross country moment:
I passed out in a race. It happened just after the two-mile mark in the Footlocker Midwest Regional Championships.
