Men’s Basketball to Host 15 Home Games in 2014-15

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team and Falcons' first-year head coach Chris Jans' released the full 2014-15 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, which includes 15 home contests and non-conference road bouts at Dayton, Drake, Western Kentucky, Detroit and South Florida.
"Our first season at BGSU will begin with a very competitive schedule. We have double digit games versus teams that played in the postseason last year," commented Coach Jans. "It will also be our first glimpse as a coaching staff competing in the MAC. We will have to contend with many unknowns as we navigate through our conference schedule. Our guys have been working hard to prepare for the rigorous schedule. We are looking forward to the challenge!"
The Jans era will tip-off on Friday, Nov. 7, as the Falcons will host Notre Dame College at 4:30 p.m. as part of an exhibition doubleheader with the women's basketball team in the Stroh Center.
BGSU will then open up the 2014-15 regular season slate at Drake in the Drake Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday, Nov. 15, before returning home to host back-to-back home games versus Wright State on Wed., Nov. 19, and Southeast Missouri State on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
The Wright State game on Nov. 19 will be a 4 p.m. start at the Stroh Center, as it will serve as a precursor to the BGSU versus Toledo football game in Toledo at 8 p.m. later on that night.
After two straight return games from last season, both of which were home wins for the Falcons, to Detroit on Sunday, Nov. 30, and at Western Kentucky on Dec. 3, Bowling Green will come back home to host Alabama A&M at the Stroh Center on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m.
Jans' squad will then travel south down I-75 to face off with the Flyers of Dayton on Tuesday, Dec. 9, who are fresh off an Elite 8 appearance in the NCAA Championship last year, prior to hosting regional foe Cleveland State on Saturday, Dec. 13, and Ferris State on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. on Bill Frack Court.
The Falcons will then wrap up the month of December and the 2014 calendar year with a road contest at South Florida at the Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. on Sunday, Dec. 28. The last time the Falcons played at the Sun Dome versus the Bulls, the game was a triple overtime thriller in December 2012.
Following its final non-conference contest versus Chicago State at home on Saturday, Jan. 3, the BGSU men's basketball team will tip-off its 2014-15 MAC slate on the road at Kent State on Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the MAC Center in Kent, Ohio.
Bowling Green's first home conference game will come just three days later on Saturday, Jan. 10, as the Falcons will host the Bobcats of Ohio. Other key home MAC match ups include Akron (Jan. 31), Western Michigan (Feb. 10), the defending 2013-14 MAC Champions, Buffalo (Feb. 21) and Kent State (Mar. 3).
The Falcons will also host MAC West foes Ball State (Jan. 17), Eastern Michigan (Jan. 21) and Northern Illinois (Jan. 27).
BGSU will then travel north for the lone matchup of the season versus the Toledo Rockets on Saturday, Jan. 24, in the Battle of I-75, while important MAC road contests also include games at Akron (Jan. 14), at Ohio (Feb. 24) and at Buffalo (Mar. 6).
Bowling Green will also play conference games at Central Michigan (Feb. 4), at Northern Illinois (Feb. 7), at Ball State (Feb. 14) and at Miami (Feb. 28).
The 2014-15 MAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament will once again span over a six day period, as the first round tournament games will be hosted at campus sites on Monday, Mar. 9. The quarterfinals of the MAC Championship Tournament will begin on Wednesday, Mar. 11, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, with the semifinals on Friday, Mar. 13, and the championship game slated for Saturday, Mar. 14.
