CARSON, Calif. - Former Bowling Green State University football player Kendall Montgomery has been selected to play in Saturday's (Jan. 17) NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The game will take place at the StubHub Center (home of Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy) in Carson, Calif. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on ESPN2 and the WatchESPN app.
Montgomery will be a member of the National team, coached by the legendary Mike Martz. A 6-foot-6 menace on the defensive line, Montgomery hails from Miami, Fla. where he attended Monsignor Pace High School. He finished the 2014 season with 20 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, six quarterback hurries, and three pass breakups. He played in all 14 games, registering 11 tackles over the final six games of the season. In the season's final weeks, Montgomery had individual games with 2.0 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and four quarterback hurries.
"Playing in this game is a huge honor, and I am very thankful for another opportunity to play this game," Montgomery stated. "I am grateful for the chance to represent Bowling Green State University and the BGSU family on a national stage this weekend."
Montgomery will be one of six players to play in the game from the Mid-American Conference. Five MAC representatives will play on the National team -- including Montgomery -- while just WMU's Donald Celisar will play for the American. Joining Montgomery will be QB Andrew Hendrix (Miami), RB Jahwan Edwards (Ball St.), WR Dawan Scott (Miami), and PK Jeremiah Detmer (Toledo).
