Johnson, Walny Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Matt Johnson and women's cross country runner Rachel Walny.
Male Athlete of the Week
Matt Johnson, a redshirt senior from Harrisburg, Pa., completed 25-of-30 passes for 357 yards and five touchdowns in a 59-10 win over Akron. The 49-point win was the largest margin of victory in the history of the series with Akron. Johnson leads the country with 2,891 passing yards and it was the third time this year that he threw at least five touchdowns.
Female Athlete of the Week
Rachel Walny, a redshirt freshman from Clinton Township, Mich., placed 20th at the Pre-Nationals meet amongst a loaded field of runner. She had a personal best time of 20:28.1 on the 6,000-meter course and was the top Mid-Amercian Conference finisher in a race that included both Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
