Two Top Flight Champions At UIC Invite

UIC Invite Day Two Results
Chicago, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team finished the UIC Invite by bringing home two top flight titles. Freshman Paula Comella Aguilo won the singles top flight title as well as the top flight doubles title with senior Drew Fillis by her side. The weather was once again an issue causing the Falcons to move inside and the consolation matches to be changed. The players who lost in the second round of the semifinals competed for third-place.
Aguilo who lost the first set to Alvarez of NIU 4-6, was able to regroup and win the next two sets 7-5, 10-8 to take the top flight championship title. This is the second title for Aguilo this season.
Winning the top flight doubles championship and the second of the season was the duo of Fillis and Aguilo who in the second round of doubles beat Heuer and Hebble of Valparaiso 7-6 (3). They battled NIU's Alvarez and Osabuchien in the championship, winning 7-5.
In singles play, Polina Radeva defeated Valparaiso's Hebble 6-4, 6-2 to capture third place in the top flight for the Falcons. Junior Antonina Farrar, who had a successful day one at the invite, was defeated by Pendleton of UVM 6-4, 6-0 claiming fourth in the red flight.
The Falcons will be back in action at the ITA Regionals in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Oct. 22.
