Lewis, Walny Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week
October 05, 2015 | Football, General, Women's Cross Country
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Roger Lewis and women's cross country runner Rachel Walny.

Male Athlete of the Week
Roger Lewis, a sophomore from Pickerington, Ohio, caught 10 passes for 201 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 28-22 win at Buffalo – Bowling Green's fifth straight over the Bulls and 13th consecutive against MAC East foes. For Lewis, who leads the country in receiving yards with 760, it was his third 200-yard performance in the last four games. He is the first player in school history with three 200-yard receiving games in his career, which he has accomplished in a four-game stretch.
Female Athlete of the Week
Rachel Walny, a redshirt freshman from Clinton Township, Mich., placed sixth out of 312 runners at the Paul Short 6K run at Lehigh University. Walny's time of 20:36 was 50 seconds faster than her previous best and just nine seconds out of first place. It was the fastest 6,000-meter time for a BGSU runner in the Lou Snelling era, as well as the fastest in recorded history.
