Greene Named MAC East Offensive Player Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – For the second consecutive week, Bowling Green State University running back Travis Greene was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning. For Greene, it was the second award he has been honored with this season, while for the Falcons it was their 10th MAC East Offensive Player of the Week award in 10 games.
A senior running back from Carol City, Fla., Greene sits just five yards off the school record for career rushing yards. In Wednesday's MAC-East clinching win at Western Michigan, Greene rushed for a career-high 170 yards on 24 carries. He also matched his career-high with three rushing touchdowns, marking the second straight week he has found pay dirt three times. It was his fourth 100-yard game of the season and his 18th career game rushing for at least 100 yards. With a seven-yard reception, Greene finished with 177 all-purpose yards.
Greene and the Falcons will meet their arch-rival Toledo on Tuesday night at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Kickoff against the Rockets is at 6:00 pm on ESPN2.
East Division
Offensive Player of the Week: Bowling Green RB Travis Greene
Bowling Green senior running back Travis Greene (Carol City, Fla.) rushed for a career-high 170 yards in helping Bowling Green clinch their third straight MAC East title with a 41-27 road win at Western Michigan last Wednesday. In the game, Greene rushed 24 times and averaged 7.1 yards per carry. He found pay dirt three times in the victory, matching his career-high which he had set the previous week against Ohio. It was the fourth 100-yard game of the season and his 18th of his career. The running back also tallied a reception, finishing with 177 all-purpose yards. Greene now sits just four yards shy of tying Bowling Green's all-time career rushing record.
Defensive Player of the Week: Akron LB Jatavis Brown
Akron senior linebacker Jatavis Brown (Belle Glade, Fla.) led all defenders with 11 tackles, two sacks, a career-high 4.5 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one break-up, and the first interception of his career in a 37-28 win at Miami. With his two sacks, Brown set the school record for sacks in a season, the previous record was 10.0 held by Jason Taylor and Ken Williams. He now has 10.5 sacks. After 10 games, Brown has 88 tackles, a team-best 16.0 tackles for loss, and a team-best 10.5 sacks for a loss of 80 yards, three hurries, two forced fumbles, and an interception.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Miami DB Tony Reid
Miami sophomore defensive back Tony Reid (Charlotte, N.C.) had two blocked punts in a 37-28 loss to Akron. His first block gave Miami the ball at their own 37 and later blocked an Akron punt that spotted Miami the ball at the Akron one-yard line. The RedHawks would turn the two blocks into seven points.
West Division
Offensive Player of the Week: Northern Illinois RB Joel Bouagnon
Northern Illinois junior running back Joel Bouagnon (Aurora, Ill.) ran for a career high 156 yards on 28 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns in a 41-30 win at Buffalo. Bouagnon averaged 5.6 yards per carry in the game. His first touchdown came on a career-long 58-yard run late in the first quarter that gave NIU a 14-3 lead. His second score came on a one-yard run on the Huskies' next touchdown drive. NIU gained 334 yards on the ground in the game; Bouagnon's two-TD day was his sixth multi-touchdown day of the season. The MAC's leading rusher and scorer also has six 100-yard rushing games this year.

Eastern Michigan senior linebacker Great Ibe (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded a game-high 21 tackles (9 solo), two for losses, and one quarterback sack in a 28-17 loss to UMass. The 21 take-downs are tied for his career most and the tally tied with Tennessee's Jalen Reeves-Maybin for the most in the nation this season. Ibe's total is the most by an Eagle since last year when he hauled down 21 Minutemen in a contest also against UMass, Oct. 18, 2014. Eastern Michigan began tracking tackles in a game during the 1999 campaign, with Blake McCall holding the gold-standard with 29 against Ohio, Oct. 16, 1999.

Northern Illinois junior kick returner Aregeros Turner (Akron, Ohio) returned five kickoffs for 152 total yards to average 30.4 yards per kick return last Wednesday in a 41-30 win at Buffalo. Turner's returns led to an average starting field position at the 33-yard line for NIU. He had a 58-yard return to set up the Huskies' first score of the second half. Turner also had a 28-yard return in the game. Turner totaled 237 all-purpose yards in the game, the most by a Huskie player this season, as he had 49 yards receiving and 36 yards rushing. The 237 yards came on 18 plays for an average of 13.2 yards per touch.
