Davidson, Mack Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) named their Academic All-District honorees on Thursday afternoon. Two members of the Bowling Green State University football program were honored by the organization in District 5. Joseph Davidson (punter) and Alfonso Mack (defensive back) were named Academic All-District and will now be eligible for Academic All-America considerations.

Joseph Davidson, a native of Findlay, Ohio, owns a 3.95 grade point average in mathematics. Through nine games, Davidson leads the Mid-American Conference with a 46.2 yards per punt average. He has downed nine inside the 20-yard line and also boomed nine over 50 yards. A redshirt sophomore, Davidson has had just two touchbacks and allowed only nine returns by the opponent.

Alfonso Mack, a native of South Bend, Ind., holds a 3.96 GPA in psychology. During the last four games, Mack has recorded three interceptions which is tied for the team lead. A walk-on for the Falcons, Mack has started the last seven games at cornerback for the Orange and Brown. The redshirt junior has 30 tackles this season to go along with 2.0 tackles for loss, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

The Falcons, coming off a 62-24 victory over Ohio last night for their sixth consecutive victory, take their 7-2 (5-0 MAC) record into a showdown with Western Michigan next Wednesday night at Waldo Stadium. Kickoff in Kalamazoo is set for 8:00 p.m. on ESPN2.
