Dieter, Scholten Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week
November 09, 2015 | Football, General, Volleyball
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are football player Gehrig Dieter and volleyball player Katie Scholten.

Male Athlete of the Week
Gehrig Dieter, a redshirt junior from South Bend, Ind., helped the BGSU football team to a 62-24 win over Ohio Wednesday by catching nine passes for a career-high 136 yards and two touchdowns, his first career two-touchdown game. Dieter caught a 10-yard fade in the corner of the end zone, getting a foot down for his first TD of the night. In the third quarter, Dieter tipped a pass to himself and raced 75 yards for his second TD.
Female Athlete of the Week
Katie Scholten, a sophomore from St. Louis, Mo., handed out 92 assists over two matches, to eclipse the 1,000-career assist mark in her first year as the full-time setter at BGSU. She had 45 assists at Buffalo and 47 vs. Akron. The sophomore, who now has 1,019 career assists, also recorded back-to-back double-doubles on the week with 11 digs at Buffalo and 13 against Akron to give her six for the year.
