Davidson, a native of Findlay, Ohio, earned first team All-MAC on Wednesday. Davidson has excelled all season for the Orange and Brown, averaging a MAC-best 45.5 yards per punt on 44 attempts. All season he has consistently used his left foot and his big 6-foot-7 frame to pin opponents deep in their territory and flip the field. Of his 44 punts, Davidson has had 13 land inside the 20, 14 travel over 50 yards, and just three go for touchbacks. Davidson earned two MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week awards throughout the 2015 regular season.
Davidson is one of just seven of 52 players named to the Academic All-America® teams to hold a GPA of 3.95 or above. He is one of just four players from the Mid-American Conference to earn honors in 2015, joining Matt Weiser (Buffalo), Jordan Italiano (Kent State) and Nick Cuthbert (Kent State).
Davidson's honor marks just BGSU's 15th-ever Academic All-America® award. He joins Lawrence Kelly (1969, Third Team), John Boles (1974, Second Team), John Boles (1975, First Team), Joe Russell (1975, Second Team), Dave Preston (1976, Second Team), Mike Otten (1986, Second Team), Pat Jackson (1988, Second Team), Pat Jackson (1989, First Team), Pat Jackson (1990, First Team), Bob Dudley (1992, Second Team), Bob Dudley (1993, Second Team), Craig Jarrett (2003, Second Team), Mike Thaler (2005, Second Team) and Tyler Tate (2014, First Team).
