Mid-American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Release (2-12-15)
Cleveland, Ohio – In just the first week of play in the golf 2015 spring season, Bowling Green State University senior golfer Patricia Holt was tabbed the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today, Feb. 12, by the league office.
Holt got off to a great start this spring, as she went 3-0 this week for the Falcons at the number two position at the Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. on Feb. 9-10.
Competing against other MAC schools and IPFW, Holt posted a 1UP win over Pader Her of Akron with a win on hole number nine, the 18th hole overall for the round, in the head-to-head match.
With the second and third rounds shortened to just nine holes on day two of play due to time constraints and weather, Holt posted five wins at holes one, three, five, six and seven to earn a 3&2 win over Karyn Lee Ping of top-seeded EMU. In the third-place match, the senior dominated her contest which started on the back nine, taking holes 11, 13, 14 and 15 to easily win at 4&3 over Julia Champion of WMU.
Holt helped to lead the Falcons to a third-place finish and a 2-1 overall team record at the two-day match play event, posting a 3-2 win over #6 Akron in the first round; suffering a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to #1 EMU in round two; and then posting a 4-1 win versus #2 WMU in the third-place bout.
This is the first MAC Women's Golfer of the Week recognition of her career for the BGSU senior from Frisco, Texas.
