White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia – After a rain and lightning delay of just over two and half hours less than an hour into the final round of play on Tuesday morning, the final day of The Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational was washed out after only four holes of play at The Old White TPC golf course in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.
With the wash out of the third round of play, the scores will revert back to the 36-hole scores from yesterday's two rounds of play.
Therefore, the Falcons finished in ninth-place overall with rounds of 294, +14, and 292, +12, on Monday to turn in a two-round combined team score of 586, +26.
Senior Joe Cooper finished in a tie for 12th-place overall with rounds of 72, +2, and 71, +1, for a 36-hole score of 143, +3, while Jose Narro turned in back-to-back rounds of 73, +3, to finish in a tie for 26th-place overall with a two-round combined score of 146, +6.
Fellow Falcon Brett Rinker posted rounds of 73, +3, and 74, +4, to find himself one stroke behind Narro and in a tie for 32nd-place overall with a combined score of 147, +7.
BGSU freshman Cameron Michalak turned in rounds of 76, +6, and 74, +4, to place in a tie for 46th-place overall, while senior Ryan Triller carded a 36-hole score of 157, +17, with rounds of 78, +8, and 79, +9, to place in 65th-place.
Playing as individuals, Mitchell Kontak shot rounds of 82, +12, and 79, +9, to end the event in a tie for 68th-place overall with a 36-hole score of 161, +21, while Holden Pahr finished in 71st-place with rounds of 82, +12, and 85, +15, for a combined score of 167, +27.
No. 37 nationally ranked East Tennessee State University went on to win the second annual event out of the 13-team field with a combined two-round team score of 566, +6, while Eastern Kentucky finished just stroke behind the ETSU Bucs with a team score of 567, +7.
Marshall and Old Dominion ended up tied for third-place overall with identical team scores of 571, +11.
Individual medalist honors went to three golfers who all tallied a 36-hole score of 137, -3 under par, on Monday. ETSU's Gudmund Kristjansson, Eastern Kentucky's Jared Brown and Elon's Jonathan Dilanni all finished in a tie for first-place overall in the rain shortened event.
Bowling Green will next be in action this weekend, as the Falcons will take part in the Rutherford Intercollegiate on April 18-19 hosted by Penn State University at the Penn State Blue Golf Course in University Park, Pennsylvania.
