Bryan, Texas – The Bowling Green State University senior pair of Ryan Triller and Joe Cooper led the Falcons to their best team round of the weekend, as BGSU carded a team score of 301, +13, on Sunday to finish the three-round event in 12th-place overall with a 54-hole score of 939, +75, at the 2015 Aggie Invitational held at the Traditions Golf Club in Bryan, Texas.
Triller carded a final round 73, +1, while Cooper posted a third round 75, +3, to pace the Falcons on Sunday.
The Falcons posted team rounds of 312, 326 and 301 to finish with a score of 939, +75, and a total of 37 strokes ahead of Princeton who finished in 13th-place overall in the 13-team field which included seven top-50 nationally ranked teams.
"I'm proud of the way we played today. We beat a lot of good teams (today) and have had a great trend of having good final rounds this year," commented head coach Kevin Farrell.
Jose Narro ended the weekend with a combined score of 226, +10, in a tie for 26th-place overall with a final round of 77, +5, on Sunday, after tallying rounds of 74, +2, and 75, +3, on day one of play. With his two birdies and 10 pars on Sunday, Narro registered seven birdies and a team-high 32 pars over the three rounds of play at the Aggie Invitational.
Finishing five strokes behind Narro was fellow Falcon Brett Rinker and his 54-hole score of 231, +15. Rinker shot rounds of 80, 75 and 76 over the two days of play to finish in a tie for 38th-place overall. The sophomore recorded one eagle, four birdies and 31 pars on the weekend.
After posting his highest two scores of the season on Saturday, Triller bounced back to shoot a BGSU low team round of 73, +1, over the final round of play on Sunday. The senior stepped up in a big way for the Falcons, as he carded four birdies and nine pars over his final 18-holes of play. Totaling five birdies and 24 pars over his 54-holes of play, Triller finished in 68th-place overall with a combined score of 247, +31.
Placing in a tie for 71st-place overall with a 54-hole score of 255, +39, was junior Holden Pahr. Pahr wrapped up his weekend of play with a round of 87, +15, after rounds of 82, +10, and 86, +14, on Saturday. Pahr finished with two birdies and 22 pars for the event.
Following a scorecard error at the end of round two yesterday, which erased his round of 75, +3, Cooper rebounded to shoot another 75, +3, on Sunday to give the Falcons four individual scores in the 70's to count towards its team score on the day. The senior had three birdies and 10 pars over his final 18 holes of play.
No. 9 Oklahoma (884, +20) edged No. 11 Texas Tech (887, +23) for the team championship by just three strokes, while No. 34 (888, +24) finished in third-place overall. No. 7 LSU (891, +21) and No. 41 Texas A&M (894, +30) rounded out the top-five on the team leaderboard.
K.K. Limbhasut of California, the lone golfer to shoot under par for the three-round event, earned the individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 214, -2 under par, for the tournament.
Bowling Green will return to competition in just over a week, as the Falcons will host the second Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational at the Old White TPC Course at The Greenbrier on April 13-14 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
