Four Falcons Set To Open NFL Rookie Mini Camps This Weekend
May 07, 2015 | Football
Four former Bowling Green State University football players, all of whom exhausted eligibility following the 2014 season, are set to take the field with teams in the National Football League (NFL) this weekend for Rookie Mini Camps. Gabe Martin, Kendall Montgomery, D.J. Lynch and Jude Adjei-Barimah have all been invited by NFL teams to this weekend's Mini Camps.
Â
Gabe Martin, who is expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals as an Undrafted Free Agent on Thursday, will open Mini Camp on Friday at the team's practice facility in Tempe.

Â
"I'm just truly blessed and humbled with this opportunity," Martin said after choosing the Cardinals earlier this week. "It's an indescribable feeling knowing that someone is giving me the opportunity to play the game I love and chase my dream. I plan on doing everything in my power to take full advantage of this."
Â
Martin, a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection at linebacker, was quick to select the Cardinals following the NFL Draft last weekend. A two-time captain at Bowling Green, Martin led the MAC with 18.0 tackles for loss a season ago. The Grand Blanc, Mich. native also led the Falcons with 115 total tackles. A student of the game, Martin was also named Academic All-MAC three times during his career, and earned MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete following the 2014 season.
Â
Kendall Montgomery, a native of Miami, Fla., opted to sign an Undrafted Free Agent contract with his hometown Miami Dolphins following last week's NFL Draft. Montgomery, who is also expected to sign his contract on Thursday, will open Mini Camp with the Dolphins on Friday.

Â
"This opportunity is a very exciting one and would have been no matter which team gave me the chance," Montgomery said. "But, being able to go back home and play in front of my friends and family makes it even better. I'm excited to get to work."
Â
Montgomery, who excites the Dolphins in part because of his length (6-foot-6) and athleticism, played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Carson, Calif. Following the 2014 season. After starting his career at tight end, Montgomery transitioned during the 2012 season to the defensive side of the ball. Over his last two seasons, he played in all 28 games as a rush-end on the Falcons' defensive line.
Â
D.J. Lynch, a linebacker from Pontiac, Mich., will be in camp this weekend with the New England Patriots. Already with one former Falcon – 2012 MAC Defensive Player of the Year Chris Jones – and several other former MAC players on the roster, Lynch will be looking to continue the #MACtion pipeline to Foxboro. A 2013 All-MAC second-teamer, Lynch started nine games in 2014 for the Falcons while battling with injury. The Patriots are expected to open camp on Friday.
Â
Jude Adjei-Barimah, a defensive back from Columbus, Ohio, accepted a Mini Camp invite with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Adjei-Barimah started all 14 games at cornerback for the Falcons this past season, finishing with 82 tackles, two forced fumbles and an interception. Over the course of his career, he played in 52 games while making 20 starts for the Orange and Brown. The Jaguars will open camp on Friday.
