June 14, 2015 | Women's Track and Field
Eugene, Ore. - The Bowling Green State University track and field team finished the 2015 Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Championships tied for the 35th in the country with six points. It marks the second consecutive season in which the Falcons ranked among the top 40 in the nation.
BGSU tied Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, Colorado, William & Mary, Illinois and Louisville in the final team standings. The Falcons were second among all MAC schools behind only Akron, which finished tied for 32nd with seven points.
Redshirt senior Brooke Pleger placed third in the hammer throw for Bowling Green with a toss of 219-feet-11 (CLICK HERE for recap). Pleger finished her career as a three-time first team All-American and posted third place finishes in the hammer throw in back-to-back seasons.
With that result, the 2015 BGSU Track and Field season came to a close. The Falcons broke three school records during the outdoor season (Brittany Sinclair in the 400 hurdles, Pleger in the hammer throw, Sinclair, Alicia Arnold, Kera Lamotte and Dorresha Green in the 400 relay) and defeated rival Toledo 103-96 in the Battle Of I-75 for the third consecutive season. Five Falcons were named All-MAC (Pleger as a first-team selection and Sinclair, Arnold, Lamotte and Green as second-team picks). BGSU sent four Falcons to the NCAA East Region preliminary round (Pleger in the hammer throw, Sinclair in the 400 hurdles, Kori Reiser in the discus and Makenzie Wheat in the shot put) and Pleger finished first at the meet prior to competing at the national championships.
