Suisham Visits BGSU
Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Athletics received a visit from a former Falcon in the professional ranks last Friday afternoon. Current Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham visited the Sebo Athletic Center to speak with current BGSU student-athletes on what it means to be a professional. He gave advice on signing your first professional contract, putting the right people around you, and learning how to manage your money.
Â
From 2001-04 Suisham was the kicker for the Falcons, making nearly 70-percent of his career field goals and left as the record holder in points scored, extra point attempts and extra points made in a career. Suisham's fourth career record of field goals made was broken last season by current BGSU kicker Tyler Tate.
Â
Entering into his 12th NFL season, and 6th season with the Steelers, Suisham has made nearly 85-percent of his field goal attempts with a career long of 53 yards set in 2014. His accuracy has landed him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week twice in his seasons with the Steelers. Currently Suisham sits at 907 points scored in his career and looks to eclipse the 1,000 point mark this season.
