The Bowling Green senior is one of 30 student-athletes up for the prestigious award.
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Tyler Tate, a redshirt-senior on the Bowling Green State University football team, has been named a candidate for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award, as announced today by the organization. All 30 student-athletes selected compete in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision.
Tate was named a Capital One Academic All-America last season, becoming the first Falcon since 1990 to earn the prestigious honor. Last year, Tate was also named to the Academic All-MAC team and earned the MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honor. Tate now has 265 career points, just 96 behind all-time Falcon great, and current Pittsburgh Steeler, Shaun Suisham, for most in school history (361). BGSU's placekicker became the first in program history to ever make 50 field goals in his career, as he knocked in three field goals last Saturday in Nashville against Tennessee.

ABOUT THE AWARD
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring. Premier Sports Management manages the award. The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the football bowl season in early January.
