Falcons Conclude Day One At Cougar Invite

Chicago, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team began the fall portion of their season Friday at the three-day, five-team Cougar Invitational at Chicago State University. In addition to Bowling Green, schools participating at the invite are Chicago State, Lewis, Bradley and Oakland.

Freshman Polina Radeva had a strong showing in her first outing as a Falcon, defeating Bradley's Alexa Brant 6-1, 7-6 (1) in the first round of the green flight.

Sophomore Emily Witt won a pair of matches, defeating Bradley's Julie Martin 6-2, 6-3 in a play-in match and then beating Chicago State's Monica Pulgar 7-6 (2), 6-2 in the black flight.

In the grey flight singles, junior Antonina Farrar won her play-in match, beating Bryttish Burts of Chicago State 6-4, 6-4 for a slot against Kayla Steacel from Oakland. Farrar lost 6-0, 6-2. Leeah Floyd, a junior for BG, will compete in a consolation match Saturday for a chance to stay in the singles tournament after a defeat Friday.

Start time for tomorrow is 9 a.m. and due to weather play will begin indoors for the first two rounds.
