Radeva and Witt Advance To Championship At Chicago State Invitational

Chicago, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team completed day two of the Chicago State Invitational Saturday, earning wins from most positions in the lineup and seeing freshman Polina Radeva advance to the championship of the green flight singles.
Radeva remained unbeaten in singles play on the weekend, defeating Emma Sodergren of Bradley 6-3, 6-2 and is scheduled to participate in the east finals tomorrow morning against Bradley's Alejandra DeLasa. Freshman Paula Comella Aguilo, who lost to Ari Detcher from Bradley, rebounded to beat Oakland's Daria Artamonova 6-4, 6-0 and will compete in the west finals (consolation championship) against Nora Mindiyarova from Lewis University.
Juniors Leeah Floyd and Antonina Farrar both advanced in the grey flight singles. Farrar won by default and will play against Bryttish Burts of Chicago State in the west finals (consolation championship). Floyd took the place of injured Lorea Gamboa of Chicago State and will take on Bradley's Kayla Stencel in the northeast semifinal.
In the black flight singles, Drew Fillis defeated Julie Martin from Bradley 3-6, 7-6(6), 10-6. Fillis will play Monica Pulgar of Chicago State in the west finals (consolation championship). Emily Witt beat Lewis' Jill Wetmore 6-4, 6-4 and will go against Tamara Blum from Oakland in the flight championship.
Doubles play began on Saturday and Fillis and Comella beat Thai and DeLasa of Bradley 6-2 to open competition. The team then lost to Blum and Guy from Oakland. They will play Bradley's Sondergren and Manfredo in the northeast semifinal.
Radeva and Witt dominated in the white flight doubles. They beat Lewis' Wetmore and Conlin and followed that up by defeating Lloyd and Burts of Chicago State. The duo will compete against Detcher and Toidze of Bradley in the flight championship. Farrar and Floyd followed up an opening round defeat with a default victory and will take on Wetmore and Conlin of Lewis in the west final (consolation championship).
The final day of the Cougar Invite will begin with warm-ups at 8 a.m. Sunday. Doubles will start at 9 a.m. with singles to follow.
