Davidson Named MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University punter Joseph Davidson was named Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week for his performance last week at Maryland. Davidson, who holds a 3.955 grade point average in mathematics, is a native of Findlay, Ohio.

Davidson turned in another strong punting performance on Saturday, increasing his season average to 49.1 yards per punt. Davidson punted three times against Maryland, averaging 50.0 yards per punt. His long of the day was a 56-yard boom, which caused Maryland's dangerous Will Likely to retreat and attempt an over-the-shoulder grab deep in their own territory. The ball ricocheted off likely and was recovered by BGSU's Alfonso Mack at the UM 14, leading to a big BGSU touchdown.

The Falcons and Davidson welcome Memphis to town this weekend for the home opener at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. The Falcons and Tigers will kickoff at 3:00 pm ET in a game televised by American Sports Network and ESPN3.com.
